The Lachrimae Pavan on Lute

The famous Lachrimae Pavan performed here on the instrument for which it was written, the Renaissance Lute. First published around 1595 in England. Here I'm playing from the Jane Pickering manuscript but have added some nice ideas from other English manuscripts. Composer: John Dowland (1563-1626).

What a godlike instrument. It is like the harpsichord of guitars; a very baroque -sounding piece. It’s like a tune one would hear in a medieval tavern. Very good job on this piece.

John Dowland, what a giant in his time and ours. The lute touches my soul like no other instrument. I played violin, yet wishing for the lute. Nothing else calms the soul as well.

This is just sounding so good. There's always been something about the sound of the lute for me, can't say exactly what, but just love it.
