Detroit Police Department: Transforming With CommandCentral Aware
Показать описание
Hear from Detroit Police Department analysts first hand, and see how they are successfully using video intelligence from CommandCentral Aware in their Real-Time Crime Center to interrupt and solve crime more quickly and effectively.

I think one of the most important things when you introduce new technology is ease of use, being able to adapt the technology to common police practices, and common everyday work without really making the technology a difficult learning process.
00:15
It’s exciting to see that we are fighting crime with technology, with these analysts, with the Real-Time Crime Center.
00:25
In the Crime Intelligence Unit, where we have our Real-Time Crime Center, we provide real time intelligence to units on the street that are responding to crimes in progress, looking for patterns that may cross precinct boundaries, and monitoring all of the cameras.
00:40
We provide as much information as we can. We are able to do that faster, because of the platform CommandCentral Aware has brought.
00:49
We use CommandCentral Aware 24 hours a day monitoring the city and the crime hot spots, gas stations, party stores, restaurants, and we’re looking for crime or suspicious activity that we could possibly interrupt.
01:01
It’s as simple as officer safety. We do special attentions where the officers are pulling into the parking lots and making sure that business is safe at that time. So my job at that point is to make sure that the surrounding area isn’t set up to ambush that officer, or if there was a call produced to a gas station, I could check that scene first before that officer arrives to make sure it’s safe, and then also provide real time information to that officer that’s responding.
01:24
We can give them, the patrol officers, live information as it comes real time. We talk to them over the air, and they are valuing every bit of information that we’re giving, because it’s accurate.
01:37
A huge trust factor has been developed where we’re not just providing stats and maps, we give them information that can actually help them, it can keep officers safe.
01:48
I think the more we have been doing this, the better we have become broadcasting our information to officers on the streets, and the better they become at understanding what we could provide to them, and so now we’re at the point where officers are calling us and saying did you get that, did you get that on video, what can you provide me with and what can you help me with.
02:01
One of the things that we found is having the technology is like having a third person on each patrol car, because with the technology we’re able to get information ready for the officer sooner, even prior to the officers arriving.
02:15
It allows us to put police officer’s eyes on these various areas in the city, and they don’t have to drive to get there. Instead of having eyes on the scene within three minutes, we have eyes on within seconds.
02:27
Here in the Detroit Police Department, I’m both humbled and excited of how the men and women who serve this community with distinction and honor, have wrapped their arms around new technology and said give us more, we want more, because they know how it’s had an impact on not only reducing violent crime in the city, but really improving the quality of life of so many.
02:48
I just think the technology is going to continue to expand, and it will be just a more efficient way for us to fight crime in real time.
