How to Rebuild Total Chaos Uniball Upper Control Arms - 3rd Gen Toyota Tacoma

Показать описание
Rebuilding the Total Chaos uniball upper control arms on a 2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road 4x4. use Super Lube multi-purpose synthetic grease with Syncolon® (PTFE) to grease the control arm bushings & CRC Dry Lube PTFE spray for the uniballs. This rebuild is the same for 2005 and up Toyota Tacomas.

Torque specs:
—Upper control arm mounting bolt (long bolt): 85 ft-lbs.
—Uniball bolt: 100 ft-lbs.

Tips:
--Make sure the misalignment spacers are fully seated before you tighten the uniball bolt. You can damage the misalignment spacers especially the lower one if you don't check that they are fully seated before tightening.
--Make sure that the snap ring opening is facing either to the front or rear of the vehicle. If not the big ends on the snap ring will interfere with the misalignment spacers when they are at max articulation.

How many miles since this rebuild? How have they held up? Worth it?

Thank you man, I’m about to buy some used ones for my 2nd Gen Tacoma and I was wondering about how to rebuild them and now I know.
I know that brand new they’re like $900 with tax included so I think that I’ll offer him $400 since he told me to make him an offer. Then I’d spend like $300 on the rebuild.
You think that’s good or should I try offering less?
I do own a hydraulic press with the steel cups to press out the ball joint so I wouldn’t need to buy the Total Chaos tool.
I’d appreciate your input and Thanks again for the video!💪💪

I changed the bushings on the TC uca. But I fell a little loose the steering wheel when I hit some trails. Re checked everything and it is tight. Maybe could be the uniball ? When I have the uca disconnected from the spindle, the uniball turns very softly with my finger. You had this issue ?
