Our biggest problem is we don’t know how to take criticism. Rather than correcting ourselves so that the country can become better we blame people who criticize us .
Most of these same people would happily leave the country when they get a chance but hypocrisy is so deeply embedded that it is embarrassing.
The current government doesn’t think that environment should be taken care of .
Violence against women is at an all time high but the media doesn’t report it as the media long lost its balls and have been threatened with violence too .
As long as we will have the element of hypocrisy, India is doomed .

In all my years of living in India I've been to North India twice and both experiences were bad. Went to see Taj and then Rajasthan for a few days (the site seeing was nice there). North India is really unsafe for women. When people from UP or Bihar ( Northern states) come to my city, very few are decent. I've always got the scammy vibe from them and above all they are deeply misogynistic. However, I've traveled to south India both alone and with my family and it was always a smooth trip. Problems get solved faster there and people are very helpful. Great food that doesn't give a stomach ache. In fact almost all S.Indian restaurants throughout the country serve healthy food. I'm really sorry you had this experience, I totally understand.
