Exploring Earth in Starfield

When a game comes out that’s set in a place you live, the most natural compulsion is to head for your house to see if they’ve put it in. Unless you live in Manhattan, Downtown LA, or Central London, you probably haven’t enjoyed this phenomenon outside of Flight Simulator (which has everyone’s house in it). But we all live in a certain spiral arm of the Milky Way galaxy, which just happens to be where Starfield takes place. Yes, you can visit the SOL system. And yes, going one better than Elite: Dangerous, you can land on Earth.

But you should probably steel yourself first. Or have a very stiff drink. Because it’s not the Earth you recognise. Stop reading here unless you’re liable to get raging about spoilers.

When I think of explorable planets, I at least think of interesting geometry... bodies of water and potential life signs are bonuses.

When they said 1000 planets, I'd say that's a stretch. Its more like 800 sol like Moons and 50 with intersting bits on, the rest are procedurally generated deserts with pre fab locations repeated ad infinium.

No but exploring planets isn't like the same as other games so they could add ruin locations other than just the landmarks. Like I'd love to see a location of and old city ruins, or old tanks buried in the sand and such

I dont understand peoples issue with earth being barren now. As much as the explanation is kind of random and doesnt make much sense, it wouldve been basically impossible for bethesda to make a completely realistic earth or remnant of earth
