You Can Actually 'Land' on Starfield Planets from Your Ship

Who ever said you couldn't seamlessly land on Starfield planets?

Would have been great if you reached the planet instead of prompting for the planet map it just randomly lands you on the planet. You get the planet map only when you call for it.... would have been immersive.

I would guess this was the original method of getting to planets, but between the choice was then “have it take a long time so the game can load the planet while you are flying in, or have the planet be super janky when you get there”…so they just implemented a fast travel load to land and play testers likely preferred that once they got past the “wow this is so cool” aspect of flying the ship.

Phasing through a planet isnt the same as landing on it. People really be coping hard with starfield 😅

wouldve been so cool to have a mechanic where you would fly into your city or area every time you go to a planet and it was fast and well designed but I guess thats a lot to ask

You can land and even sometimes fly all the way to another system or planet without ever hitting a menu though. Just press the scanner button in your ship in space and look around till you find your waypoint and a travel option or land option will show and you just click the button and go.

Yeah. When you’re not too busy flying through them like they’re nothing but a hologram. Bethesda really dropped the ball on this one. How disappointing.

This is why my perfect game would be the travel / flight / planet system of elite but the story / purpose of Starfield.

The one thing Bethesda had to deliver on was space exploration, and they turned it into fast-travel only...
Screw Bethesda, this was the last game I bought, they literally had one job, and it wasn't an un-optimized, repetitive garbage heap like Starfield.

I do kinda wish we could literally fly onto planets. It’s a little annoying to have to go into the character menu, select the Star map, cycle through to the planet I want to visit and then I can hold X to land.
