I'd rather take winters over anything like :

Tornadoes
Droughts
Wildfires
Hurricanes
Earthquakes
Tsunamis
Bad flooding
Sand storms
Sink holes
Avalanches
Volcanic eruptions
Really bad snakes and bugs
If the trade off from all those I listed are long cold/snowy winters then I'll take the winters even if winter is what I despise deeply.

I feel like these reasons can apply to just about anywhere these days. Everyone is politically divided, every state has a crappy season/weather, has some financial/inflation or tax issue.

An interesting angle might be looking at people who are moving back to Wisconsin. We moved to Florida twenty years ago. At the time we came down, I connected with a recruiter to help in a job search. I remember when I told her I was from Wisconsin she said "You're not going to be without a job long. When employers down here find out you're from the Midwest, they snatch them up." She was right. I had a job pretty quickly after. Now we've bought a second home in Wisconsin and plan to retire there. For family, friends and the people in general.

I drove from New Orleans to Superior Wi 5 times in the past 2 years. Of all the places we have stopped, stayed and visited, the Madison citizens were the rudest. Madison and Duluth is a close tie.

Just moved back to Wisconsin last April, from Arizona after 18 yrs. The rents/cost of living has skyrocketed big time in AZ, its become unaffordable. I am paying $500 a month LESS rent here for a larger size place, than I lived in, in a gang and drug infested neighborhood in AZ. I have a beautiful grassy yard, wonderful neighbors, and don't have to worry about drive by shootings. Or tweakers camping on my patio. Also don't see 100's of homeless, and drug addicts on every corner, in front of stores, gas stations etc. it is astounding. In my 18 yrs in AZ, I have personally witnessed 8 shootings. And it doesn't matter where you live there, the crime is reaching places, where they thought it wouldn't. Just because you live in Scottsdale... doesn't mean you are safe. They just had a home invasion happened in the ritzy neighborhood. I will take Wisconsin ANYDAY... I also got more pay, for the same job I did in AZ, when I came home for 3 months in 2017. I don't work anymore, so when the snow comes I can choose to stay home. I am loving the 4 seasons... and the beauty Wisconsin holds. Instead of Hot and Hotter lol

as A person who been born and raised here in Wisconsin and has lived here all my life and never left to live anywhere else you two video makers are all wrong about Wisconsin and people are not moving out in droves. Wisconsin is a great state to live in and raise a Family and Winters or not this is still a great p[lace to live in And for the most part we have some really friendly people here. Unlike California, New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco, Washington DC, Detroit, Minneapolis and Portland Oregon. More people are moving out of those places then any other place in our country.

You might add another reason people move is the babyboomers are much older now and other states don't have state income tax plus warmer weather . People on fixed income although may have a nice nest egg, they still have to watch their money and less taxes mean more money they have to spend.

Madison has turned into a woke dumpster fire. What makes it worse are the shitty winters. I got out and never coming back.

Regarding winters in Wisconsin... Some say winter in Wisconsin is brutal. Winters in Wisconsin used to be brutal. Global warming has changed that.
50 years ago it was more or less routine to get a 10 day-two week stretch of very cold weather in January. -15 or -20 was often the case. Often, a snow storm of 8"-10" or more would come before the severe cold. This could repeat in February.
It is still possible to get this kind of weather. But winters have been quite a bit more mild for many years now. Remember, Wisconsin IS a northern state.
Wisconsin can also be very warm, but hasn't been so for a number of years.
Flooding happens in some places at times.
The greatest weather threat, in my opinion, are tornadoes. Those are usually most possible during transitional times of the year. Even then, Wisconsin isn't like Oklahoma.

If I lived in Madison, I would move in and out just to be counted as many times as possible as leaving. That city is so completely unlike anything else the state offers that I think people should actually be given a bonus to move out of Madison. I live in a Milwaukee suburb, which, by Forbes, two years ago, was ranked as the 12th best city in the country of any size. Madison would best be described is the home of schizophrenia.

Ya people may move out but come summer half of IL and MN come here for vacation and my friend from NH says their property tax bill sucks too but they don't have sales or state income tax( fast food still taxes) so they get their revenue from school taxes.

Moved away from 💩y weather and the politics!! Moved south where people are wonderful!! We love the southern hospitality!! Those summers can be pretty humid and buggy, as well, up there. Those mosquitos are enormous!! 😆

When I got so bothered by shoveling snow in the winter time I learned that it is a great reason to do it, and never eat food to get something done!
