Thanks for doing these vids guys. I don't see any in depth analysis of this new aspect of the game being done by many others.

I don’t know about you guys but spirit guardians without the penalty of basically becoming the next target at level 20 sounds amazing

And I agree, out of the three options the spellcaster does seem pretty meh. but the true benefit that I see of having the spellcaster sidekick is when you run a party and you don't have any spellcasters or just one but they're still learning how to play.

As mentioned, I'd look at the statblock before assigning classes. I doubt I'd make a pre-existing spellcaster into a Spellcaster sidekick - Warrior or Expert depending on their equipment and such - unless said magic is inborn, like Pixies and Drow, or others like them. Still, even then, there's always a surprise.

I wanna play a goblin barbarian with a worg healer for my sidekick/mount. It's definitely a DM call, but I would rule that opposable thumbs are required to handle material components, but not for somatic ones.

What about the traits being replaced by the feature so would this include innate spellcasting cause it's part of the traits?

The sidekicks really just seem like the best solution for rangers to me take hunter ranger and have a wolf sidekick

So because my party is only with three people, and out of the three only one of them is a spellcaster (a druid who refused to heal lol) I decided I'll give each one through story a psychic. The druid has a wolf warrior, my rogue has a monkey expert and my monk had a sibling playing a sage(the healer spellcaster). It allows them to feel like they are not alone when we do battles, and it also allows my monk player to try out spellcasting for her first time

Pointing out that at Lv 6 it could gain the agonizing blast feature. Which can end up being super potent.

How many side kicks can you have? Total versus active?
