The speed of which he lifted it from the ground is still to this day amazing to me.

Bro looked around asserting dominance for the record

The fact that he did this in competition after multiple PR pulls and not in his home gym is what makes it truly legendary.

Imagine if Eddie was hydrated a week before this contest

His second lift had already broken the world record by 4 kilograms before he obliterated it on his third lift. Imagine if somebody ran the 100 meter dash in 9.49 in the semifinal round, breaking Bolt's record... and then running 8.83 in the finals. It's completely insane.

Someone else pointed this out in a different video but Eddie here has more plates on than the cartoon symbol guy behind him, which is supposed to be the picture of strength. And the man lifts more than that

A lot of people don't know that this was his third pull of that day and his second pull had already broken the world record, I think 465 kilos, he then went on to do the 500

*Edited: Because y'all can't handle a typo or read the comments

He broke the record deadlift by 8.4%. Nobody will ever do that again. Truly one of the greatest accomplishments in human history, certainly within sport.

“World Deadlift Championships” needs to update their logo to be Eddie Halls silhouette.

Eddie wasn’t actually lifting the weight up, he was pushing the earth down.

Mythical level of strength. Sort of thing you would read about in folklore. Just insane that i live in the same time period that Eddie did this. I will never not been blown away.

There's a video with the medical team working on him after this that was insane. Systolic pressure was over 200 and didn't come down all the way for a few hours, bleeding out of everywhere, in and out of consciousness. And he pushed his body to that point by will and training (physical and the mental training he talked about). Like that shit is just... When folks talk about something being "inspirational" - this right here.

But was his negative really slow enough? I'd have liked to see him really get into that stretch just a little more

I heard Tom Cruise is gonna play Eddie in his autobiography movie adaptation.

He didn't even lift it.. he simply grabbed it, stood up, and didn't take "no" for an answer at all👀

He said he put himself, mentally, in a situation where he was lifting a car off his kids when he was up there. He had a pinch point that he trained his brain to recognize and trigger a fight or flight response, a rush of adrenaline. I dont know how this could ever be measured. Coming from someone who has suffered panic situations in the past, the brain shoots some chemical whether its adrenaline or something else, down your limbs and you almost feel a numbness in the extremeties. I definitely believe one could use this kind of response to enhance strength.
