Autocorrect fail: iOS spell-checking seems to be getting worse with iOS 13. Apple's approach to AI is privacy-safe ... it's on-device, sharing less data. But that isn't helping them make it better faster than Google's.

Robert Scoble and I chat about the state of autocorrect ... and AI ... on Apple's mobile devices.

Focusing on privacy is a great thing. But it does have consequences, experts say, in its development of artificial intelligence. Apple's AI is not nearly as strong as Google's, and its bad autocorrect performance in iOS 13 is a symptom of that problem.

Autocorrect and predictive text...I'm convinced they only put their most wildly incompetent, low skilled, low IQ employees to work on these features.

I often have to Google a word spelling and it will anticipates my word 3 or 4 characters in. I then write it by hand because im dyslexic the phones autocorrect is not intuitive at all. You would think it would help me but all the confusion makes me increasingly illiterate

Why does my spell check on my PC read my mind, but my iphone spell check is terrible.
On my pc its suggested correction is almost flawless .
On my phone you can be off by one letter and it can not suggest a correction.

We’re is prioritized over were. You can’t type were without autocorrect.
You know because contractions are more grammatically correct then actual god damn words.

I get stuck in these loops where I’ll spell a word correctly, then I’m prompted with an incorrect correction. I’ll click on the incorrect corrected word. This will just go on and on forever until I just delete the word and type in the incorrect spelling and selecting the correct word suggestion. If I just hit the little x to close the suggested word replacement it deletes the word I typed. Complete insanity. My computer in the 1990’s was less powerful than my iPhone and its spell check was localized and worked flawlessly. So that argument makes little sense to me. Whatever the reason it’s baffling to me.

You almost have to type the word correctly for it to autocorrect.

It has trouble when :

If you misstype the first letter in the first syllable of the word ( prefix suffix).
If you misstype the vowel at the end of a prefix or suffix

If you repeat a letter in the word - which causes misstype!

Or if you put a space between a suffix and a prefix . Also spacing itself can mess it up
