In the process of building a 383 with afr 220, still a budget build with a solid flat tappet. Comp cams argued with me when I told them I wanted a cam with a 106 lobe sep. They wanted me to run a 112 lol. Just blows my mind. I told them ok I changed my mind let's do 105.

383 SBC, Roller, Afr 195 Eliminators street heads 64 cc, 10.5 CR, Mike Jones Hyd Roller Cam ( .580 lift, 108 LSA), Victor Jr single intake, 750 Holley. This set up is too much fun on the street.👍

hey thank you so much. What do you think of this combo plan? =
4.O3O" bore. Block 4 corner decked to pistons with O.OO5" out top of block. O.O43" head gasket. 300 cfm @ O.65O" lift. 89% bowl.200-220CC Brodix ported race rite heads. 2.05" intake 1.6" exhaust valves. 8 mm valvestems. Phosphor bronze tubes. sodium filled exhaust valve. Comp Cams XR288HR10 hydraulic roller. 1.65:1 crane gold race rockers on intake side. 1.6:1 on exhaust side. Moroso worked oil pump blueprinted. Hardened chromoly steel oil pump driveshaft with taper to reduce weight. 1- 3/4" equal length 180* header primaries. 850 cfm vacuum secondary with down leg to step booster. Additional part throttle circuit added with adequate flow. HEI pro distributor. 2 piece reinforced roller cam timing cover. TH4OO custom built with standard pattern. 3500 stall tight nitrous style converter. 3.00:1 gears. Street car daily driver. static compression shall be close to 10.8:1 thinking of using the XR294, or XR300HR10 and adding 3.73 or 3.90 gears. Custom gear set of 2.10, 1.40 and 1:1 main. / OR just dropping compression by adding a few CC on piston and or chambers. The rods are 6" and a stroker clearance type for any stroker, and mahle pistons with total seal rings.

So just found this channel been watching a few videos, LOVE the info. Super big into turbo 4 cyl but trying to get back into the v8 stuff haha. I'm 24 so I've got some time to learn.
Built a 383 a few years back with my dad when I was in HS. Now that I see your channel I'll ask you as well... it's a VERY basic bottom end, stock 400 crank and rods with arp rod bolts. Obviously not ideal for RPM. It's been well balanced and everything but still a little scared lol.and it only has hypereutectic flat tops, about 11:1 with basic AFR enforcer 195 heads, flow chart shows 250 cfm flow at .500 lift and 251 cfm at .550 and .600. I don't ever plan on taking these off the engine now. ANYWAY, currently it has a comp xe274h hydraulic flat tappet cam. 490/490 lift, 110 LSA, 274/286 adv. And 230/236 at .050

I'm looking for more power out of it but really only want to change the cam and valvesprings (if new valvepsrings are required). It's mostly just a fun weekend car I'd like to trailer to the drag strip sometimes a couple hrs away. Got about a 3k stall and 4.10 gears. Any recommendations on a solid flat tappet? This has been a budget build from the very beginning, don't really see the need switching to solid roller, but I would really like to learn valve lash and thought I would raise the rpm on this a little to see how much I can get out of it. Do NOT need crazy longevity out of it. Obviously I want it to last but it's just a toy and does not need to be driven if something happens to it. Any info is appreciated!

I like the 383 and just made some changes. 10:1 AFR195 heads comp 288hr cam with 1.6 rocker with an RPM intake long tube headers and a 750 holley double pumper. Have no clue power but I'm open to hear gueses.

Great vids my friend, ive been building big block chevy's for 30 years and agree and understand everything you are saying about lsa. In 1999 i built a 461 bbc 12.2 compression on a budget with ported 781 heads, a flat tappet cam i designed and had delta grind. I remembered they asked why i wanted the cam cut on a 105 lsa and they even tried to get me to run a 110. Engine made 634 hp at 6400 and 580 torque at 5000, power held on to 600 at 6800. Cam was 244 254 @50 580 600 lift. Heads flowed 310 cfm on the long runner at 600 lift. Good old days. Getting ready to build a 383 for a 63 biscayne, thats why I'm watching these vids. Might need some help on the cam for the 383 Adam.

Fully ported, from the deck to the intake face. Chambers all the way to the port opening. They you have port match & bowl blending. Fully built engine, good question.

Hey Adam, OMG sent me here. [SUBBED]👍...Thanks for all the info on your build. As you know, cylinder head choice will make you or break you, another great channel that digs deep into cylinder head development is Eric Weingartners channel. You'll definitely dig his channel if you haven't seen it yet. Keep the build progress videos coming. 🍻

Hey Adam, have you done any AMC engine building before? I’ve got a couple Jeeps I’m building up now and I’ve got 360s in em that I’d like to go thru and get some power out of instead of the 144 they came from the factory with. I’ve heard that I can stroke it and it will wake the 8 little monsters up that supposedly live within each cylinder wall and it’s sposed to make a ford guy cry after being paired up with em.

Anyways, just curious if you had done anything with the AMC before or not. There’s not a ton of guys around that mess with em anymore but I’ll figure it out.

Nice job on that 383 tho!! I bet she’s a handful!!
