Premiere Pro can pretty much playback any media from any source HOWEVER there are limitations and at times your timeline won’t playback properly.

In fact, you’ll see different colored lines above your timeline.

Depending on the color, it means you need to render.

Sir, this is a GREAT video. Thanks so much. I've been futzing around with Premier for a few years now, and I've been continually frustrated with this rendering issue. The whole program is way to complex for it's own good, honestly. Anyway, your video made all this so clear. I love the way you laid everything out. Thanks again! VR

Great video! My 4k timeline was grinding to a halt because I'm on ECO mode (laptop battery) and the computer isn't giving me all she's got. Now, I'm editing smooth and fast again. THANKS

Why doesn't Premiere Pro save all the rendered files after saving my project, then turning my computer off? When I open my project the next day, all the rendered files that was green has now turned back to red.

Thank you!
I completely forgot about it after not working with Premiere for a while. Might explain why I was struggling so much with my previous project. About to edit a project this weekend, , this might come in handy! Thank you!

Thank you! Watching this makes me realize how much education I need when it comes to Premiere Pro! I didn't use clog3 in the current wedding I'm editing and it's easier but not near as pretty as usual. I'm looking around for tips on how to fix orangey skin tones rn.

This was really useful.
Just started making videos this summer. I’ve had 30 min long edits that haven’t been rendered 😂🤦‍♂️

I know now

Ever since I updated to the 2022 version "render in to out" has been missing from the drop down for me and "render selection" is always greyed out. Any ideas on how to solve this? It's been driving me nuts and I can't find a solution anywhere

Is there anyway to render using Media Encoder, so I dont need to stop and stare at the dialog box? Thanks <3

Thanks for the tips! Wanted to ask if it makes any difference to have an SSD or an HDD for the "Media Cache and Scratch Disks" Drive? (I'm talking about Media cache and Scratch disks drive, not the drive where I store my project and footage, which obviously is better to use SSD)

Can we still render the project if yellow line appears..?

But why can't it just keep rendering all the time in the background while I'm working on other frame areas?
