so does this mean that any mobo/cpu combination that has had a resizable bar firmware update would work? You wouldn't need a 10th gen cpu or newer then?

Definitely not a day 1 purchase but I do really hope it can disrupt the market a bit. The design is really appealing to me though, I love the simplicity of it and could see it look awesome in a vertical mount!

To those people who would try to enable the resize bar and is stuck on bios setting loop, you need to go to boot tab in advanced settings and enable CSM. this happens because our OS partition is on MBR and need to convert to GPT

I REALLY hope Intel ARC succeeds. It'd be good for consumers if there were more than two vendors out there.
From the sound of it, you seem impressed with the cards and I am now interested in seeing the reviews.

We need to see the performance on ARC with the 8th and 9th gen with bios updated to allow rebar. Run the numbers, Jay!

Kinda sucks that this is the case though, considering a large portion of the target market for these cards would likely have older CPUs. It defeats the purpose a bit for going for the mid-lower end market.

2:47 Technically you can get resizable bar on 8th and 9th gen CPUs however that requires you to update the bios on your 300 series motherboard. Lots of people don't like to update their bios on their motherboards, but rebar is available if you're on like say a 9700 or whatever if you don't mind updating bios. I used to have z390 motherboard and had resizable bar enabled on it after updating my bios, so I know it works on Coffee Lake, because I've done it.

A lot of older boards got a bios update more then a year ago. So even if you have a 8th gen you can probably use it.

I have the 5600x with 3070 ti, and the Resizable Bar support really does increase the performance in some of my games up to 15%. It’s a nice little feature

I really like their card's low-key "non gamer" styling. Hoping they stick it out into a 2-3nd generation of gpu's. Did the suits think it would be easy to develop hardware/software and get into this mature market? It reasonable to expect a five year effort, then reevaluate your results. You're gonna have to risk a big pile of cash to establish a presence.

So, resizable bar actually can be enabled on some z370/390 motherboards, but it is required to have a bios update and is very similar to the beta bios for B450 boards/5000 series. I have rebar on my z390 Aorus Master and 9900k with the 3070ti and it DOES WORK. If you have a z370/z390 board, double check the support page of your motherboard and see if rebar is any of the change logs. I do know that gigabyte has quite a few motherboards they updated the bios for rebar.

Resizable BAR works just fine on intel 9th gen on the Z390 platform. There are some hoops to jump through to get it going, but reports are not too bad.

depends on the mobo, but yes, BAR can be found on Intel 8th & 9th gen platform

For those with MSI: Although it's AMD, my MSI B550 mobo still calls it "Re-Bar". It's under PCI settings, also enable "Above 4G Encoding".

My only concerns with the Arc GPUs are DX11 support and driver stability. Waiting for the reviews and hoping these are discussed!

9th gen does have re-bar support, they released motherboard bios updates for it. and is recognized in the nvidia driver as "enabled"

Thank you for updating us with this news and it’s good to know what to expect with this GPU which I’m very excited to buy and support intel in GPU hardware. Only time will tell how it goes in the long run. Keep up the good work 👍

i have an i7-9700k with an msi MPG Z390 Gaming Plus mobo and can do resizable-bar... 🤔 In fact, i already have it enabled and on top of that... gpuz is showing that it's enabled! Maybe i got lucky or something, but i should be able to run the intel arc gpus!

6:49 At the moment, NO Jayz, it depends on the games you play (with both nVidia and AMD).
Many games will benefit from ReBar, but some games will perform worse.
Check HW Unboxed videos about it.
Best thing to do would be to do a quick test on the games you play the most, to see if it's worth it.

I think there's an idea for one whole video here Jay! Test how big the performance gap is with and without rebar enabled. And test it with both supported and unsupported platforms. I have two 9th gen Intel Asus motherboards in the house and they both had the official rebar BIOS update. Even though they are not officially supported, it could work just fine. Needs testing.
