I am a new golfer and I top the ball a lot. I watched this video last night and went to the driving range today; video helped immensely. The tips of spine angle and the pillow was key for me. I have a LOT to work on but I was smoking them tonight!! Thanks Rick. Huge fan!!

So strange to see a bare-faced Rick! Fairly new subscriber so I’m loving the fact I have soooo many videos to catch up on. Every single video I have came across is GOLD!

I was literally about give up golf with how much I was topping it. After watching this video and adjusting my body throughout my swing and keeping my head down has dramatically improved my shots almost immediately. Thank you

Your head is attached to your body, so coming out of your posture does make your head lift from where it was - it's the result of another action, so your head does lift, but only as a result and not the cause (if that makes sense)
Meandmygolf did a video on a similar subject, saying lifting your head was bollocks (not in those words obviously) and that it was in fact the lifting of the shoulders, not the head. Well the head sits on the shoulders, so again, lifting them (except in a shrug type movement) does raise the head.
I would argue that it's easier for a new golfer to concentrate on maintaining the level of their head through to impact, read "don't lift your head", thus maintaining spine angle etc as a result, than it would be to be told to maintain their spine angle and be slightly baffled/confused by terminology.
I think that's why you hear it so often from amateurs, because it simplifies a problem to a symptom rather than root cause although treating the symptom can also help cure the cause. Sure, you can lift your head without moving your body, but get someone to bend over and then ask them to lift their head a little, i'd be willing to bet they stand up a bit in order to do it.

Of course, i'm not even that good at golf, so I'm probably talking absolute tripe. I'll stick to my day job I reckon.

Self coached newish golfer here, been having a lot of issues with inconsistency. Took this tip to the range today and probably hit 25-30 % more consistently putting me at probably 80-85% good hits. This was absolute magic for me, thank you!

Thanks for killing some of these ridiculous myths that we hear so often. The stuff you hear from some golfers trying to help their friend/spouse is truly mindboggling.

Rick is great taking complex golf issues and boiling it down to 1 or 2 key points to remember - he does this so you can actually activate his advice at the driving range or at the course. Good job Rick.

Rick I Understand that coming out of posture is the reason but surely for some people this is because they are "looking where they have hit it " before striking the ball which causes the loss of posture?

Was playing well and improving only to find myself unable to contact with the ball properly. Was in the mire usual trying to keep my head down etc etc watched this and helped unbelievably. Games back on track. Thank you 😅

Thank you for this video guys!!! Out of nowhere I've just started topping the ball on ALL of my irons. I filmed myself and have been doing exactly what you show here - keeping my head too still, not allowing my head to move through the swing etc. Will be watching this video over and over and then hitting the range on Saturday!!!

Hi I am vision impaired and i'm getting into the game of golf. I also top the ball a lot but, with this video I believe you guys just got that problem solved for me.
Before I commented on this video I hit nine out of 10 golf balls perfectly Thank you so much

Thanks much. I was desperate to fix this problem which emerged only 3 weeks ago. I couldn’t solve the problem until watching this video. Today at the range my shots were excellent after correcting my swing as you showed. Bravo.

After watching enough teachers teach, you start to notice how much they contradict one another on some things.

Holy crap, Rick! It's so odd seeing such a baby face and no beard!
Just searching for tips to practice, add to my drills... There you are!

This video was huge. I watched this last night and went to the course this morning and went over the body mechanics and it really worked a ton.

Absolutely bang on. I know I fall out of posture now, no more bollocking myself for ‘lifting my head’.
