I HATE garbage disposals. I grew up with one and I swear it never worked and was always gross. When we bought a house my husband offered to instal one and I just said no thank you. We just give all that leftover food to our chickens 😂

I'm spanish and garbage disposals are simply not a thing. My life is perfectly fine and I can live peacefully knowing there isn't a dangerous blender in my sink lmao. They seem scary, unnecessary and nasty.

We don’t have those in our country. I was flabbergasted seeing an American horror movie where a woman’s hair got stuck in there. There are blades inside there right?

I never clean mine but it doesn't smell. I grew up without a garbage disposal system so i scrap my plate clean over the trash can.

We don't have garbage disposals in my country. We have bins we put our trash in, and then we tie up the bag its in and go out with it to the sorting room. We are very good at sorting in Sweden.

Here's a good tip: Once you're done with the dishes lower the dirty/sudsy water down about almost half way and squirt in some dish soap directly into the middle and start the disposal. Let it almost empty. (And if you have any old orange or lemon rinds throw them in too!) Add just a but of salt or baking soda and let it grind with the warm water running till empty. Doesn't smell at all!

As a Dutch person, I don't like this invention being in a house/kitchen. In the Netherlands we recycle so much, that this just doesn't make sence to me😮🙈😅

I put all kinds of shit down my garbage disposal and I’ve never had any issues. It’s never broken (in 7 years of me living here, but the garbage disposal itself is much older) never had to replace it, never had a stench, never backs up. I’m just wondering what kind of abuse a garbage disposal would have to endure to not work anymore or have a stench because mine is basically a torture victim.

I clean the flappy thing once a week in my dishwasher and I clean the disposer once a month with a tablet. But it also gets a good daily rinse in the evening with a drop of Pinalen.

I usually throw a couple pieces of ice with some orange peel down mine every 2 weeks or so. Works great ❤👍

The inside lip of the garbage disposal actually pulls out and you can clean it easily and even separately.

After i wash the dishes, i scrub the disposal along with the sink. My flaps come off, so it's great. But yeah, but yeah, that's gross. Do people just not clean anymore? Like the guy who does dryer cleaning, i clean my dryer every month. I clean my sink, my disposal, my oven, my fridge, i clean my house. Clean your house people!!

For the people who have mental health issues that don't clean, I am not talking to you, that's something completely different, and I hope you get all the help you need. I clean for a few of my neighbors who have health and mental health issues.

BTW I absolution absolutely HATE cleaning.

I always put lemons in mine every month to keep it smelling fresh and with all the cleaning I do, it has never smelled
