One can argue if the catchy music is fitting after the Nina tragedy, but can we appreciate the fact that Bones went out of their way to make a special outro? They could have just blacked out the screen or play the normal outro, but they created a special one in honor of Nina. Ed's smile around 1:00 is normally genuine. This time he has to force it out. Fucking genius!

this is the one version of the ending where the look edward gives you, his eyes are shaking and ready to cry. So he forces a smile to tell you he's doing ok. Not just to us, But to nina and her dog.

Oh god, I was hit by the nostalgia train right now. The first FMA was, along two others, the frist real Anime I got to experience (knowing that this medium is called Anime) and damn. I binged the whole series on a weekend, stayed up way too late (I was barely a teen lol) and I simply cannot describe what an amazing experience that was.
The studio put effort into this ending in honor of Nina and her dog and even animated Ed's expression anew. His eyes show just how much he is holding back from crying. He endures it all.
It was the first darker/more realistic Anime I watched.
I love this version just as much as Brotherhood. In some aspects maybe even more.

Literally the first episode of FMA I ever saw was the Nina episode. I watched it on Toonami or Adult Swim or something; it caught my eye flipping through channels. When it was done, I was left to stew in my feels as this very song played. To this day, I can't listen to it without being pulled back to that moment, but the song is _so good, _ I can't stop listening. I think I've developed Stockholm Syndrome for a fucking song, send help.
