After 1.5 years as an American expat living abroad in Europe, I finally traveled back to my native California in December 2020. In February 2021, I flew back to my home in the Netherlands in February 2021. COVID-19 travel has changed drastically due to the worldwide lockdowns and constantly changing rules with flights. Here’s an inside look of what it’s like to fly during the coronavirus pandemic with less passengers in normally crowded airports and airplanes in major cities such as Los Angeles and Amsterdam - both of my flights had less than 50 people! I flew from the Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, Netherlands to Los Angeles, California and back. To enter into the United States, you must fly into one of 13 major airports as of late 2020.
