Can someone explain to me why he gets so much hate? I have been listening to him since the age of 11 (am 20 now) and his music always made me feel at peace and happy and it sucks to see so many people on the internet being rude or insulting him and his music. Everyone has their music preferences and that is fine, but I don’t believe it insulting an artist all because their music isn’t your cup of tea. Ed Sheeran is one of those artists who keeps to themselves and stays unproblematic.

This is my theory about the song, maybe i'm really wrong but i wanted to write it

So, some people think that this song it's like the person that sing it is talking to a person when the song say "my bad habits lead to you" but i think is talking to the death and imma explain why analyzing some of the phrases in order.


1- "Every time you come around, you know I can't say no every time the sun goes down, I let you take control" In this part it's like talking about their problems, like, they're talking about some part of their that take control of them when things go wrong

2-"I can feel the paradise before my world implodes" This is one of the easiers phrases, the suicidal see like "peace" before suicide, bc they have everything ready for die and they feel they won't suffer more after that


3- "And tonight had something wonderful" this could be like the person have their things ready and he's, that their is already dead and is "writing" this since the death or that their hurted themselves


4- "My bad habits lead to late nights, endin' alone" maybe more than "their bad habits" is talking about their problems or that they don't take care of themselves anymore


5- "Conversations with a stranger I barely know" maybe is talking about their voices/sides/hallucinations or that their in a bar drunk for their problem with alcohol and they talk with the first person that find

6- "Swearin' this will be the last, but it probably won't" maybe talking about that it'll be the last time they suffer and things will be alright but they don't believe that's true or maybe talking about their problems, like it's the "last time" i cut myself/get drunk/try to sucide but they know that's not true


7- "I got nothin' left to lose, or use, or do" i think i don't need to explain it bc is obviously bc they "lost everything" so they don't have reason to stay


8- "My bad habits lead to wide eyes starin' at space" they stay looking the space before jump and die, or maybe just look the space for try to find "peace" there


9-"And I know I'll lose control of the things that I say" maybe for their problems or their drunk for try to feel "better" with alcohol


10-"Yeah, I was lookin' for a way out, now I can't escape" escape of the problems


11- "Nothin' happens after two, it's truе, it's true my bad habits lead to you" as i said before talking to the death


12- "Every pure intention ends when the good times start, fallin' over everything to reach the first-time spark" maybe talking about the past and the good times


13- "Started under neon lights and then it all got dark" when the problems started they thought they weren't really important and they forgot about that but then they got worst and they feel lose


14-"I only know how to go too far" far about screw up everything


15- "We took the long way 'round and burned 'til the fun ran out, now" sometimes they're wrong a lot of times and that make their way to be happy again was more far

This is just a theory, that doesn't mean that talk the song, maybe it's just dumb me trying to feel identified with a song searching a way to express it with her problems, or just i wanna find a way to express my problems and done, that's the reason i putted this here..

After a really bad drug night I found this song and man ... It's written for me.
