How to check iPhone or iPad Battery Cycle Count

Can someone tell me if the program is able to count the number of cycle of a changed battery ? Coz i changed mine for a supposed "new" but ibackupbot tells me the battery has already 300 cycles. Shall i trust it ?

mine is iPhone 5 16GB - 1430 Design Capacity - 1400 Full Charge Capacity & 520 Cycles

iPhone 5 32gb - 698 cycles, design capacity 1430, full charge capacity 500!!! This was an Apple replacement which I believe are refurbs. Battery is shot!
