iPhone users should be aware that you have to have location services turned on in order for your “find my iPhone app” to work.

If you do not have location services on, and someone steals your phone or else you lose it, and this will happen to everyone at some point in time, you will be unable to lock your phone and track it from another iPhone. You’re just asking for trouble if you don’t do that. Like I said, turn location services on for the “Find My iPhone” app, and DO NOT check the box that says share your location.

What that does is turn your location services on only for that very important app, and then turns it off all across-the-board. At that point, you can determine when you use an app or download a new one if you would like to give them permission to use your location. Normally, if I do give an app permission for my location, I only do it while I’m using the app and that’s probably your best bet unless it’s something specific.
