Got a change to test ride a 2015 Yamaha FZ-07 Test Ride and Review on Angeles Crest Highway.

It's a fun bike with lots of torque. Pick any gear and it's got plenty of power, it's just a question of how quickly you want the torque to come on.

It is much easier to ride than the FZ-09. The abrupt throttle that plagued the FZ-09 are not to be found here.

Thanks asaulo1!

I think the FZ-07 is a pretty good upgrade from the 300. A significant jump in power, especially in the torque. Because it's much more about the low end torque you don't have to rev it as high, so it's easier to ride, but not so powerful you'll find yourself getting in trouble too quickly or too early. It's fairly upright, but if your 300 is stock bars and rearsets it might not feel too different. I enjoyed it a lot and it's not very expensive so it's not too high of barrier of entry. The comparable bikes from Kawasaki(Ninja 650) and Suzuki(SFV650) are more tried and true design, but I appreciate this new modern take on the mid-size standard motorcycle. The suspension feels pretty good and it rides well.

The FZ-09 is a big jump up. Ninja 1000/Yamaha FZ-1 levels of torque. Kinda scary difference. It's torque is immense and the throttle delivery was kinda scary, especially in A mode. There is a new Engine Map that's supposed to fix some of the issues, but I haven't heard anything about results of having that yet. Everyone says the suspension is kinda soft on this and needs some work. My test ride didn't give me much opportunity to experience the suspension so I cannot say there. I feel like this bike will be better if they do an update or 2nd generation. It feels like the FZ-07 already benefited from what they learned with the FZ-09.

Cool video, DFZ.... Glad you liked it... I agree, it's a little more upright than what we're used to on the Ninja 300... I felt awkward watching myself on the previous video leaning off my bike... guess needs more saddle time to get the hang of Cheers!!!

FZ-07 looks much better than the FZ-09

There's something wrong with that bike if it has a lot of vibration like you say, mine is smooth a silk.

Nice area to ride, some of what its like in the areas of TN, NC, KY, VA on, or like riding the Blue ridge parkway, the miles seem to go on for days, and just may do so ?  Your one of the first people to say the bike is fairly viby, it could be the road or tires that add to it ? I don't know have yet to ride it, I have sat on one, and think the suspension is undersprung for me at least, and one of the first things to be fixed if bought. I have a K6 SV650 naked bike, it's more forward leaning than the 07 is, and from what I hear the power is close, so maybe there is no need for a FZ-07; ) but it would be nice to ride and see the difference, even with the stock under sprung & damped suspension, what I like about the bike is the weight & the mpg, love the midsize bikes, even the smaller ones. The FZ is a great in another area, like on valve shim checks @ 24, 854.8 miles before any cracking open of the bike, other than oil & filter changes, not to forget tires, its a bike that seems hard to best for a new bike with not to much money spent, but the suspension parts do add to the cost, at least for me. Thanks for the views & thoughts. yl

Looks like a pretty scenic route. I have a Vstar 650 right now. Starting to look at this bike. Looks like such a fun bike. Heard they are selling fast at dealers.

Wish we had roads like that here in Illinois. All we have are flat straight roads. Kinda sucks lol.

Anyone know the 0-60 and/or quarter mile time(s) on this bike?

Nice bike.  I don't know if you knew this but all the police and helicopters were searching for a man.  He had rolled of the cliff where you passed.
Anyways, nice bike.

I'm torn between this bike and the 650 V-star custom.  I'm a bigger guy, 6'4 280, so the custom would suit me better, but I really like the look the FZ as well.  My last bike was a Fz6R so I know this bike will haul me np since it's a much better bike.

DFZ? You might have been better recording on a second run up the Angeles Crest Highway? You seemed very nervous & sketchy for the whole ride, and, you should've adjusted your mirrors prior to taking off!  Are you a newer rider? Nice bike & nice road though! Honestly, you made me nervous for the whole video.
