I was feeling kinda low down
Thought I'd party and get loose
Just the way she looked back at me
From across the crowded room

Made me want to know her better
I was ready when she said
Some magic words i don't remember
All I know is I said "yes"

Now I know I'm not in Kansas
I ain't never been loved until I just heard
Here's this special hunk of someone
Lovin' me for all she's Worth

And her eager eyes are hungry
They can see right through my mind
Well, now I know I'm not in Kansas
I stumbled into paradise

I was never all that lucky
Just an ordinary life
And all my love making day dreams
Were always out of sight

And all this lovin' livin' colour
Taking me where I ain't been
And that I've had my taste of heaven
But I just can't go back again

Now I know I'm not in Kansas
I ain't never been loved until I just heard
Here's this special hunk of someone
Lovin' me for all she's worth

And her eager eyes are hungry
They can see right through my mind
Well, now I know I'm not in Kansas
I stumbled into paradise

Now I know I'm not in Kansas
I stumbled into paradise

i got a flat tire coming through liberal, kansas thirty some years ago. liberal is the nearest town to where they filmed the b/w parts of wizard of oz. had the spare stolen some time before. had this tune on and folks came up i think because of the tune one old couple kicked down for a new tire, one fellow bought us anything we wanted at denny's and another kind old gal attempted to give us her full sized spare tire, rim and all but alas it didn't fit our lug bolts. amazing. did i mention i had tattoos and a head full of green dreadlocks? my wife was barefoot and filthy in a grateful dead tshirt and we had hard-core punk stickers all over the vehicle? yeah. them folks never said a word just smiled and did what they could. they were probably making sure we could move along just fine, i can dig it. but this was thirty years ago. they probably never saw a white guy with crazy ass green dreads ever in their lives. mattered not one bit. they were as kind or kinder than any folks anywhere could be. them folks in liberal, kansas are some damn fine folks, don't care what anyone says. i never saw them again, but i'd trust my life to their care. just

I love Sanford's records and can't understand why there are no videos of him live on you tube, surely he must have been on TV shows like Ed Sullivan/Dick Clark etc ?

Sanford Clark: Lee Hazlewood's "other voice." One could do a lot worse and not much better. Cool record! Original: Desert Sun DS 15481, 1982.

David Allan Coe should've covered this song.

Why are there always women in these songs? Makes them sadder than need be
