To me, 844's current whistle sounds just like SP&S 700's whistle. I miss her old whistle, i know it was worn from years of use but; I wish they'd take the whistle from sister engine 838 and mount it on her instead. And i wish they would repaint her smokebox to silver, extend the pinstripes on the running boards to the smoke deflectors & put the mars light back on so she would look the way she did back in 1981 when she was still numbered 8444.

Really cool to see this from the outside of the train. I rode on this excursion with my father and brother. A very young me was probably sat in the dome of Walter Dean (third from last car here) in these shots.

i always loved watching the UP 6936 bouncing all over the tracks due to how long the locomotive is.

I bet this was the only excursion 844 pulled in 2013 and that her mars lights was taken off after 2012 due to lose bolts holding it
