Gemini doesn't work well with all Google Nest hubs (2). Google assistant is way better for those Google Nest hubs (2).

Google Gemini is 'Fub' for now (and your right, eventually it will supercede Assistant) but you can do more with Assistant (for now) as a assistant. Also Gemini is unable to open some popular third party apps as Assistant can (Spotify is just one example). You can also enable the voice feature AND have assistant talk back to you with results using the Hey Google feature +Gemini can as well but needs to piggy back off of the Assistant app to do so). If you need on the spot translating Gemini won't be able to do so but Assistant can. So depending upon your needs choose what fits you best.

The best thing about Gemini is its app, because of that you can always return to a conversation
Shame a proper app wasn't made for Google assistant

The part that I dislike in both is for the use only by voice, you need to constantly shout "OK Google" every interaction.
