When Viktor Navorski (Tom Hanks), an Eastern European tourist, arrives at JFK in New York, war breaks out in his country and he finds himself caught up in international politics. Because of the war, the Department of Homeland Security won't let him enter or exit the United States. He's trapped at JFK -- indefinitely. While living at the airport, Viktor falls for a flight attendant (Catherine Zeta-Jones). She may have feelings for him too. But what good is love if Viktor can't leave the terminal?

RIP to the original "Terminal Man" Merhan Karimi Nasseri (1945-2022). He lived in Terminal 1 at Paris' Charles de Gaulle Airport from 1988 until 2006. When he finally received refugee papers, he described his surprise, and his insecurity, about leaving the airport. He reportedly refused to sign them, and ended up staying there several more years until he was hospitalized in 2006, and later lived in a Paris shelter. In the weeks before his death, Nasseri had been again living at Charles de Gaulle, the airport official said.

This is one of those hidden gems and so darn unique in its own way. The movie itself is a little scattered with all it sub plots and issues, but ultimately, came to a satisfying conclusion. It had a bit of everything, and proves that heart and determination can overcome anything!

One day my father and I were wondering which movie to watch. He likes Tom Hanks and we saw terminal just the poster and decided to watch without a clue what's it about.
It is a beautiful movie :) You know when you want a good movie, you can trust Tom Hanks: )

I accidentally click on this from the other trailer and immediately felt like watching it and oh boy it was the best decision I ever took. Thanks to the comment section.

This movie is pure gem. Super underrated. I encourage everyone to watch it right now. It has such a different plot and setting, easily once of my favourites!

For those who say this is Tom Hank's best movie after Forrest Gump, his acting was incredible but the movie is just heart wrenching honestly ever since I was a kid watching it in theaters. This movie is just too niche and 16 years later I don't think people consider it a classic like any other Tom Hank's movie.
