My mother was overprotective with my sister because of how my father treated her as a child, Sophia never learned discipline. I am not saying my father was a good teacher, on the contrary he wasn't. And she is fucked up now. Not that I'm in a better situation, I learned neither discipline from my father nor felt affection from my mother. Still, I try to remember my mother for the good qualities she possessed and that's what I also try to do with my father and sister who are toxic as fuck. My dad was rough with me. And my mom was a helicopter parent. My favorite moments with my father was us playing as he flipped me and bodyslams me on the couch 😂 and my mom being no where around. So I get it. He has a point.

The few times I've encountered this topic, the children suffer later on, is it some form of jealousy leading to a need of control as a self defence move to not feel hurt. It's our child, ours, we both input crucial parts of their development. Communication is key
