This one’s a simple song about, on the surface, surrendering to romantic moment. I have a series of this kind of song – from “Are You Coming with Me?” to “Armageddon” – I view this song as being in that same family. I like writing high-stakes introspective emotional songs, but sometimes I like to take a break and write something less heavy, more fun, more a ‘vibe’, and that’s what this is.

When you’re writing a song that’s more trying to convey a feeling rather than a logical theme, the lyrics don’t have the full opportunity to express all I felt while writing them – so I’ll include that additional meaning here.

This song doesn’t only make me think about physically connecting with someone. It also makes me think about how you and a romantic partner can lift each other. In a rocket engine, for example, when the fuel and the oxidizer combine together – once ignited – their resulting reaction sends an otherwise stationary 500-ton metal structure hurtling toward the sky. People can behave in this same way. Due to their impact on each other, the lows aren’t as low, and the highs are higher. What was once a crippling weakness can loosen its hold. What was once too far a thing to reach for seems closer and attainable.

A dynamic I’ve been written about by several fans via DM, is an addiction being transcended due to the inspiration and support from their partner. In life, I’ve seen so many people couple up with others romantically and find the opposite – their chemical reaction is destructive, but they stay together. The love of your life should be a part of building what you aim to build, within your heart and out in the world, and you should be the same for them.

The song sings, “ – you’ve got me levitating.” Meaning, you’ve illuminated more steps I never saw and couldn’t see as I journey across the abyss. Meaning, we are positively charged. Meaning, we are constructive. Together, we’ve sprouted wings. “The sky is at my feet, I am afloat.” 🏴‍☠
