Another way to do it is duplicating the track. And then on the second track delete everything but the word you want delayed. I find it saves time and it's easier

Thank you for reminding me of one of the tricks we used to use in the studios of the label I worked for many years ago. I had removed it and back then we used softwares less but hardware equipment a lot. Always a pleasure to listen to you!

Absolutely a spot for automation. Definitely not a sidechain.

Yes please, make more like this, absolutely, so professional and helpful

Side chain and automation and I also like timing the compressor for the side chain to the tempo using a "delay calculator"

Can you PLEASE make more about vocal delays and ways to use them and how to set it up

U always do a great job of explaining advanced techniques Streaky!!!

I Like the compressor trick better because u don't have to use any automation,
The compressor will just throw the delays in all the gaps and duck out the effect while the lead is playing and it sounds equally to what u just did with the automation

what i did recently with vocals and delaying is doing an H-Delay and Duck it down with a CL-1B as the vocal plays

Another simple way to do this is recording your vocals next to a hangar. Have a mic inside the hangar. Print the lyrics, give them to your assistant. Highlight the last words of the lines. Your assistant opens the hangar door just at the last words and closes right after during recording. Works perfectly.
Btw I heard you can also use the ducks around the hangar for compression but I don’t know how to train them yet. Next project!

Very interesting! Thank you so much as always for posting Streaky. Also noticed that Space Designer (reverb) is directly on the vocal channel and not on a separate aux send. Just wondered why that is?

❤ from Burundi 🇧🇮. I wish I could get my songs mixed and mastered by you but I don't have financial means 😢 the least I can do is learn some tricks from you to improve my products

When I want to be in total control of the delay, I'll copy the last word I want to delay for as many times I want to hear it delay (3 or 4 times), then I'll create new tracks for each of those copies and space them out to whatever sounds good, 1/4 beat apart for example or whatever. Then I'll reduce the volume of each region until it sounds like the delay I want from a plugin. There's zero percent chance of bleeding to the next phrase because it is simply copies placed in the space between phrases. I don't always do this due to the extra work, but to my ears, sometimes this is the best way to get that clarity between phrases. Yeah, I know I could get this properly from a plugin or just use one track plus automation to house my delays, but I like the visual aspect of my way.

Hi this is the first time I see your tutorial videos. I can tell you that this one is very short concrete, understandable and without any timewasting discussions. So got thumbed up . Keep it up. Cheers

The amazing part is, this delay automation has been my own invented trick from years ago, I never learned it from anyone, it was just common sense. However, I have learned a ton of other super useful tricks from YOU.
