How People Survive in Remote Russian Villages?

What life is like in the Russian North? And what if you happen to live in an isolated village there, where there are no grocery stores at all? Then your only hope would be a so-called mobile shop — a van delivering food items, medicine and utensils to the villagers. Mobile shops are run by volunteers, I met them during my trip to the Russian region of Karelia. I asked what motivated them and what would villagers do without them.
