Matrix is inspired from the Hindu scriptures. Even the song in Matrix, "NAVRAS" is actually a based on the mantra of the diety who is going to be incarnated in 2898 with the name KALKI.

1. Kashi, the first and last city of the world
2. Complex, the city which destroyed the whole world enviroment
3. The Shambhala aka gyanganj aka Shangrila the holy city of rebel group who are fighting against the complex and trying to revive the world enviroment and waiting for Kalki birth who is 10 th avatar lord shri hari vishnu, and that city located in 4th dimension around Kailash mountain, Tibet

The past scenes actually are from the Indian epic "Mahabharata" where Amitabh Bachchan's character is the immortal ashwatthama. He redirected a weapon during a battle towards a pregnant woman called uthhara. The weapon almost hit her but lord Krishna stopped it. Angered by his actions, lord Krishna cursed ashwatthama to live till the end of the World. As the end is approaching, ashwatthama takes responsibility to protect another pregnant woman to undo his mistake from the past and also provide the world with the saviour "Kalki"

The shot with the pregnant lady in the balcony is from when Ashwatthama (Amitabh Bachchan's character) shot the Brahmastra at the womb of Arjun's daughter-in-law Uttara at the end of the Mahabharat war.

the lady standing in the balcony of palace and a bow coming at her womb, that scene is of Mahabharat, actually, name of Amitabh Bacchan's character is Ashwatdhama... and he is belived to have been cursed to live eternally and bleed from parts of his body (hence here also covered with clothes) because after the war of Mahabharat he killed the Grand child of Arjuna within the womb of Arjuna's daughter-in-law... However the life of child was lateron revived by Krishna, but still he gave him the curse... by the way, Ashwatdhama was not a bad person, he is scholar and a learned individual, just due the news of his father's death, he was angry at Arjun hence he did that...

And the writers of this movie are taking reference from that part and trying to show that once who destroyed the womb, is now saving it...

Notice scenes from the past where you see the light strike that lady's womb? That lady is Uttarā, and that weapon is ' Brahmastra' (Yes, the one referred in Bramhastra movie). Back in Mahabharata, Ashwatthama consumed by the desire for vengeance, decided that if he could not end the Pandavas, he would end their lineage, aiming the weapon at Uttarā's womb, killing the unborn Parikshit and that is the reason Shri Krishna intervened and revived the stillborn baby, and Ashwatthama was made to give up his source of power – the gemstone in the middle of his forehead. Due to his immortality, he was cursed to live forever till the end of time with the gaping wound on his forehead. All other Iconic scenes are from the War of Mahabharata. Also, That's where we may see a lot of Cameo's as per rumors. ;)
