Party version of the awesome TBL OCS release from Revision 2019...

Credits/readme

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Requirements: OCS, 512 kB chip, 512 kB fast (or 1 MB chip)

It sure took a long time to get this demo done, but we are very happy with the results.

The party version of this demo has a bunch of issues that will be fixed in the final one.
* Due using OCS specific bug(s) in some parts they look incorrect on AGA.
* If you don’t swap to disk 2 fast enough things break badly.
* Likely some other things as well such as minor glitches.
* There might be glitches on accelerated amigas in some corner cases but the intention is for the trackloading version to work on all hardware and kickstarts.
* The 3D wolf is temporary and will be replaced in the final version

We will also release (along with the final version) a non-trackloaded edition of the demo that will require some more (fast) memory as we will load everything to memory instead of stream from the floppy but first we need some (well deserved) rest before we do this work so bear with us. This version will run from Workbench on accelerated Amigas.

Fun facts:
- We hit every documented hardware bug on OCS in this demo more than once
- The song can’t fit in chip memory all at once (the module is 559K in size)
- We built so much tooling for this demo that it is kind of ridiculous: a register allocating assembler, a new linker, an emulator version with memory protection and instruction level trace profiling, the scene packing tools,.. will be looking to release some of them later

Full credits:

Emoon - main coding, system, tool code, effects, music sample streaming
Calladin - direction, graphics
Hoffman - music, drum mixer code
Dep - track loading, 3d scenes code, system, tools
Kalms - 3d scenes code, opts, system
Erique - sine wavey blobs effect
Louie500 - graphics support

The Black Lotus - 30 years of monkey business.

HD (50fps on compatible browsers)

This one is, with no doubt, one of the best demos ever created. No matter the platform, no matter the time.

After watching Ahoy do the bit on 16bit music the last track stuck with me the most. This is beautiful.

Absolutely jaw dropping. THIS is demoscene. THIS is coding.

This demonstrates one of my contentions. No matter the level of technical brilliance the best demos have a strong design aesthetic. This is technically brilliant too but it would stand as memorable just for the bitmap graphics alone.

A... 500? This?
Good christ, that's impressive. Wow.
I kinda want to say more, but I'm speechless.

Amiga - still makes jaws drop today. The finest home computer ever made IMHO. So many good times with my Amiga back in the late 80's and 90s. A stunning demo!

Modern computers: “look how powerful we are!”
Amiga: *yeah right, imagine if our generation of coders existed*

I grew up on MS-DOS, so I have no frame of reference to properly appreciate the level of technical achievement, but, as a piece of art, this is stunning.

That's unbelievable, a pure beauty. Thousands thanks for making the Amiga not only alive in our heart and in our desktop but also still very inspirational. That's bit Art.

I have to pinch myself watching this. The A500 was released in 1987

What sets great demos apart from the good ones is that there’s a common theme, art direction and story-telling. You can rotate a cube randomly and have flashing lights all around sure, but can you make something that evokes emotion? That demands the viewer’s attention with great build up and pay-off?
This is an example of pure greatness, demonstrating all these components on the back off super talented coders that push this on a damn stock A500!

This is incredible. Really impressive what could be squeezed out of an OCS A500! Damn I miss my various Amigas...

One of the best, if not THE best Amiga demos ever. Just WOW! I get flashbacks from Another World at some parts... but jeees.... around 3:37, I simply loose my shit.... every time... I've watched the recorded live version of this demo, and hearing the audience scream in the background at this very moment... I actually had tears falling down my chin. The music is soooo perfect, the timing is perfect. the art direction is spot on, the animation.... yes... I get emotional when watching this piece of art.

Thank you TBL!!!

This piece of modern ART should be exposed in a museum! Love it.
