Union Pacific Conductor Lands the Dismount 2022/08/16

A UP conductor dismounts GP15AC 715 as they prepare to run up the KD to Loves Park at noon.

Just a lesson for some of the run away comments. The class 1 I work for requires the operating locomotive have ditch lights on too. Not sure the UP policy is the same. But if you look at the second locomotive back, you can see the engineer sitting in it at the stand. That means the locomotive the conductor stepped off was additional power. They are most likely shuffling orders around. The loco he got off of is being controlled by the one behind it.

Good dismount! Dat's da way you do dat! I should mention that getting on/off moving equipment was made a rule violation on the UP. It was changed after they took over our RR. It was a very hard habit to break for me as I had been doing it since 1970, and really, it was part of the fun of railroadin' and I never knew of anyone that was hurt making that move, although getting on certain railcars whilst they're moving can be pretty tricky, depending on their speed. You may notice that the grab irons on engines are made to be extra safe for getting on and off.

Publishing such a video COULD cost the man his job. You DO NOT step on or off while moving. It can be a serious safety infraction without justification.
