iOS 18: What To Expect

iOS 18 is just a couple months away from being revealed by Apple. But there have been reliable rumors suggesting what features are likely to be included.

Starting with a new and improved Siri. Which will use generative AI to understand more complex questions and respond with more accurate and helpful answers.

This AI technology will also be used for auto-complete. So the device can finish your sentences more accurately and perhaps even learn your personal texting style.

Apple Music could create auto-generated playlists based on your own parameters. For example, making a playlist for a relaxing Sunday spring morning, or an energizing playlist for a fast-paced kickboxing class.

And these capabilities are likely to appear in iWork also. So you could tell Keynote to make a slide layout for three photos with a text caption beneath each.

As someone who has switched from Android to iOS, I would like to see on a future update:

- Improved optimization for one-handed phone usage (opening the Control Center with one hand).
- Enhanced gestures (such as a universal back gesture on both sides of the screen).
- An improved keyboard + with a number row (similar to iPadOS).
- An improved Notification Center and management.
- More control on app display scalling
- More customization options (more apps on the home screen, adjustable app sizes and shapes).
- The ability to run shortcuts without it always opening the app itself.
- Transparent widget options.
- A flexible home screen (allowing placement of apps wherever you want).
- A better camera app with a well-organized UI without having to enter the Settings app or a separate Pro mode.
- Sideloading capabilities (similar to MacOS).
