if you have a drill and some bits you can pop the bushings out incredibly easy and put the inserts in brand new ones without dropping the subframe. Just have the sub frame supported and take out the bolt and washer on one corner. If you see where that blue collar is all you need to do is visualize where the collar is looking at it from the bottom (it's easier to visualize with a new one in your hand) and drill till you hear it break, a screwdriver or pry can do the rest. You will also see plastic flakes when you're on the collar.

+turbochargedbrick, No, they will not. This is like going to the emergency room, & having a nurse tell you that you need stitches, but she can only give you an ace bandage. The dealership DOES NOT drop the entire subframe to replace the bearing. They have a special tool that, once the bolt & washer are removed, actually cut & pull out the old bushing. The new bushing is pressed back in. A genuine subframe bushing will last about 5-6 years. However, this is dependent upon the engine mounts being in good condition. If the engine is not isolated from the subframe, then yes, the subfrmae bushings will prematurely wear out.

Hey IPD- if my bushings are pretty old and shot, will these inserts help much? Or do I just have to get the tools and do the job right?

Hi, Seems excellent product, In my S80 1999, I can hear clunk sound from the Left-Rear (Drive Side), bubbling tires while cruising (All suspension items checked and fine)  and as per mechanic its sub frame mounts that need to be change. Since it requires much time and $$$ to install them can these bushing inserts helps to reduce those clunk sounds.
