Amazing transformation. The work you did really shows. When I first saw it in part one I could not believe you were going to tackle such a beat up receiver. Dazzling.

crazy that the frequency response goes up so high!!

you can see that marantz stuff was built to last. an amazing piece of equipment, and you have done a good job on restorating it!

Excellent and very thorough job you did on the Marantz, You are really good with electronic repair. I have a Marantz stereo receiver stored that looks very much like this one. This video has inspired me get it out of storage and see what model it is.

Beautiful set and beautiful repair. The quality of the better older audio equipment is remarkable. The best AM consumer radio I have worked on is the RCA model 280, twelve tubes, about 1932.

Absolutely fantastic and thorough job! You've motivated me to start work on a beat-up Sony ST-88 that I've been meaning to restore!!

That hi-freq response is surprising. In that era, it was H-K that used to tout a flat ultra-sonic response, not Marantz. Looks great. It's wonderful that those old dinosaurs were built well-enough, enough after the over-shore production move under Superscope ownership in the late 60's (?), to make restoration possible and practical. Great job!

Very Beautiful Tuner!
About frequency response there is no surprise knowing that frequency response of vinyl records are up to 100Khz.

Great work and video. I've owned a Marantz 2225 myself since the 1970s. It's time to clean all the pots and switches again and replace the caps. I like your tip on the diffuser paper.
One note though. The amp does not really have response out to 150 kHz. I own the same oscillator and it only goes to 15 kHz. I think you added an extra 0 in the calculation.

@nckeller The LED is being run off the 8 volt AC supply that originally drove the pointer lamp. I just half-wave rectified it with a diode, filtered it with a 100uf cap, and used a 470 ohm resistor in series with the LED.

I left the boards in the chassis, but it's a good idea to loosen them a bit while drying to make sure no liquid is under the corners of the boards.

I can't remember how the switches are constructed, but I think you can take the assembly apart to some degree. Those boards sometimes appear on Ebay for cheap though. Might be easier to change it that way.

@nandoGdog About 32 watts RMS per channel. 16 volts RMS into 8 ohms.

@cranie4 Thanks!

On most of the Marantz receivers I've worked on, the preamp signal comes into the output module near the top of the board via a 3 conductor cable. I connected the preamp jacks to those same wire-wrap posts. If you need to know exact connector numbers, I might be able to find the service manual for the 2216B.

@AllAmericanFiveRadio Thanks! I'm looking forward to working on some more tube stuff soon myself. My Dad is giving me an RCA Radiola 60 that just needs minor TLC. It also has the 103 speaker with it. It's from 1928 I think.
