Great video, it helped me alot to restore my Marantz 2225.  I only had to clean off a very thick layer of dust and lint and replace the lamps for the blue panel infront.

Just stumbled upon this video, fascinating stuff, I have a Marantz 2325 which I was going to toss cause the left channel kept cutting out, found out it was the protection relay. The contacts were a little dirty, now it works like a charm, I'm going to give a go at the diffuser paper thing cause the front glow is an ugly green color, cheers

I can see that tech school shining, even if you've lost the formulas, you still have a good mind for the job. Thanks for the vids, by the way.

It's funny how people treat their stuff, a marantz is like a brick of gold to me. I just got a 2235 in that was dead, much like yours full of mud and rust. It was an ebay deal I did for $75, turns out it was a fuse in the transformer, it's now up and running and I picked up some bulbs today to light it back up. Stay tuned!

Excellent video. Just picked myself up one of these from ebay recently. This video will be a big help if it needs any repairs! Thanks

Nice video, thanks. Had a runaway drill syndrome destroy an AC evaporator coil while trying to open up a condensation drain hole, know how that feels! Surprised there weren't more (any!) component failures that needed troubleshooting. I would never be so lucky.

@BigForbes There is a fuse for the lights on the power supply board. It's been a while since I had this receiver, but I think the board is in the front right corner, and the fuse is a smaller size, around 1 amp I think. They should be AGC type glass fuses.

i see you have some nice work done there! i would love the have such a marantz in my collection!

i do have a superscope receiver, it was designed by marantz, and also looks quite similar to marantz equipment.

too bad the filter cap got damaged, i have done that too sometime ago...

@RodBeauvex Depends on the circuit. I usually keep the capacitance the same, but increase the voltage rating a step. If I know for a fact that the rectifier can handle a bit more inrush current, I'll increase the size of the filter caps a bit.

On this particular receiver, I kept the capacitance values the same.

I got the tool on Ebay. Just search for wire unwrapping tool. To put the wires back on, I just use needle nose pliers to re-twist until snug, then put a bit of solder on it.

@hobolooter For circuit boards I use compressed air. If they need washing (like this one did) I use Simple Green. For face plates, Novus #2, then Novus #1.

When using Simple Green on circuit boards, dry thoroughly with compressed air, using around 60 PSI or so. Make sure there is no fluid left under any parts.

Nicely done, I agree with you about tamtalum capacitors, they are the least reliable parts in electronics.

@djcatdog525 50/50 mix of Simple Green and distilled water. I used a small soft brush to clean everything up and then dried it with an air compressor. Try not to get it in any coils though. Probably wouldn't be good for the enamel wire insulation.
