The way I see this song is very sad. I believe that the 'lost boy' is referring to a child who is either abused, or has died. And Peter Pan is his savior. Peter takes him away to Neverland to save him from his pain.
The line 'Always on the run from Captain Hook' - to me - refers to always on the run from reality. This 'lost boy' just wants to escape his dark reality, and escape to fantasy - Neverland. But every day, he has to 'run'. Run from his unwanted realities, to his home. His escape.
Peter Pan is the true angel in this song. He most probably appears at night - in this 'Lost Boy's' dreams, perhaps? Then takes him to his dream home. No abuse, no dark memories. But in the morning, he has to continue running.
Wendy is probably his sister of some sort, or other angel who lives with him in Neverland, takes care of him. They perhaps are siblings, who both get abused, so this 'Lost Boy' calls Wendy 'Darling' because she is his only light, besides Peter Pan.

Really sad, if you think about it.

We read this book in class called "a long walk to water" and that reminded me of this song. The lost boys mentioned in this song are the lost boys of Sudan, who had to flee their home to escape, left their families behind and created their own family while running from war...

Can't stop crying had such a rough year with my little cuz gone, my mom left me this year and when my birthday passed she didn't even call or text, and I don't have any idea where my brothers are my my two little sisters were taken away and they were my best friends but every person has that one bad year.
