This video shows the detailed information about how the cellular network works in 2G. Every call passes through set of equipments to reach the destination. This process is explained clearly with the help of cellular architecture like GSM. Also, 1G and 2G networks are compared.

GSM Architecture has 4 components:
1. Mobile Station
2. Base Station Sub-system
3. Mobile Switching Sub-system
4. Operation Support Sub-system

1. Mobile Station(MS).
I. SIM(Subscriber Identity Module); smartcard containing IMSI(International Mobile Subscriber Identity).
II. ME(Mobile Equipment); hardware with IMEI(International Mobile Equipment Identity).
2. Base Station Sub-system(BSS).
I. BTS(Base Transceiver Station); sends & receives signals from MZ; encoding, multiplexing, encryption & modulation.
II. BSC(Base Station Controller)
A. Controls a group of BTS.
B. Allocation of radio channels.
C. Intercell handover.
3. Network Switching Sub-system(NSS).
I. MSC(Mobile Switching Substation); A. Heart of GSM.
B. Management of mobile services like reg & auth.
C. Call routing & switching.
D. Communicates with HLR, VLR, AuC & EIR.
II. HLR(Home Location Register); master db of subs current locale & info.
III. VLR(Visitor Location Register); subset of HLE. Local db 4 user's visiting loc in other domain.
IV. EIR(Equipment Identity Register); db containing all valid handsets on network using IMEI number.
V. AuC(Authorization Center);
4. Operation Support Sub-system(OSS).
I. PSTN.
II. ISDN.
III. PSPDN.
IV. CSPDN.

Bro, it was a nice video. I really liked the information conveyed through it. But pls do solve 2 of my doubts: i)so when 1 of the tower(BTS) is under maintenance, does the BSC do the task of removing that particular toer from communiucation system. ii)Every time, we make a call there is a dial tone humming. Is this the time used by GSM system to connect 1 pewrson to another in the call
