I came to America at 6 years old. I immediately suffered an identity crisis up until I was 18. I replaced the words in the Jamaican national anthem to "Jamaica land we hate" instead of "jamaica land we love". I hated my skin color and hair. I wanted to have hair like the Spanish kids, and lighter skin. People would laugh at how I said "vegetables" and "georgia". I never had the newest clothes like my peers..my parents worked hard. I hated soccer and wanted to play American football. I despised every part of who I was.

Im 24 now. I love who I am and my culture. Bob marleys music taught me so much about myself. Grateful to be Jamaican, grateful to be a human being. One love to all🇯🇲❤️

I got introduced to reggae music by listing to this live for the very first time in my life back when I was 18 yo. The performance shocked me so much that I transitioned to listining only to reggae for the rest of my life.
