0:15 I’m guessing this is celia, lina and Collin? This is the first animation I’ve seen of them so I’m a bit confused lol. But THIS IS ACTUALLY SO GOOD WHAT?!

The animation, the timing, the character designs; what hasn't already been said?!

I think my favourite part is the build-up to John's appearance, starting with Colin at the computers showing Martin and Jonah (blue and red respectively). Cut to security cameras on a green background: a reference to TMP's typical POV(s). Then the tape recorder starting to roll (green background still): a nod to TMA's usual POV and solidifying the Eye imagery started with the cameras (and foreshadowing the arrival of a certain someone who's typically associated with the color green and missing from our RGB trio). Then, boom, computer behind Sam turns on with a green screen and out pops out our friendly(?) neighbourhood Archivist!

Speaking of colour, I love, love, love the association of JMJ with RGB. Not only the colour fits each individual, but also it sells the whole computer theme (since RGB is the notation used to represent colours on computer screen) as well as how the three are now part of a whole. Plus, John being green works on so many levels: it's TMA's signature colour, most fan depictions of John/the Archivist are primarily green, and between the three colours, our human eyes are the most sensitive to green (so again, Eye theming)

This is the best animatic I've seen in months and the best Magnus Protocol fanwork I've ever seen. I adore this; I've watched it like 15 times already. You capture the entire podcast so well, it near made me tear up. The entire animation is full of life and I love your designs of the characters. And the key at the end. God. Thank you for making this, this is one of my favorite animations ever.

i have been watching this non stop and showing everyone i know for about a week now. 'sam's mix' on Alice's tape is fucking perfect. I do enjoy the fanon 'white blonde woman with or without headband' for Gwen, but theres something about her hair and glasses here that helps emphasizes the 'in over her head' part of her character. and im obsessed with the general timing of everything you've done thank you for sharing!!

this animatic planted an absolutely horrible idea in my head. .jmj error is a john-martin-jonah error. I'm going to be very upset if the dad joke to end all dad jokes is the mystery plot for this season

oh my god this is really really good?
Like, okay. I kind of don't care about the magnus protocol. I like it okay, but so far it doesn't have the same magic that TMA had for me, and that probably has something to do with the relative absence of fan-work -- I find it harder to care about a character I can't visualize. All that's to say the sheer amount of personality you've managed to give these characters in 30 seconds has single-handedly transformed them from voices into people more efficiently and effectively than 30 episodes of the podcast could for me. Bravo

On a technical level, I especially love your designs for Alice, Needles, and Ink5oul. You have a fantastic command of motion, weight, and timing. I noticed how the little animation "beats" (Alice's walkman and footfalls, Gwens folder, ect.) don't just fall on quarter notes but are usually emphasizing the specific vocal rhythms of the line being sung. I especially love how the dice fall in time with "to the bin" and Alice's finger wagging on "fat joint".

Anyway, this rules, thank you for making it. Instant classic fanwork in my books
