How to downgrade PS3 custom firmware back to 3.55

Alot of people ask how to revert back to stock 3.55 official firmware. I give a quick demonstration on how this is done using Rebug's 999 downgrader PUP file. Note that this will NOT work on official firmwares, ONLY custom firmware versions higher than 3.55. Your PS3 MUST be QA toggle enabled before performing this downgrade or you will semi brick and require a hardware flasher to unbrick. This is absolutely VITAL.

You'll need to install the 999 downgrader, then the QA toggle. QA toggle can only be enabled from a 3.55 firmware, and the 999 downgrader is a patched version of 3.55. After you install and run the toggle, make sure it's enabled and you can install 3.55 OFW from the recovery menu.

If it's at 3.56 or higher official firmware, you'll need a progskeet or teensy++ hardware flasher. There is no way around this.

followed your tut, great work on the tut. I have a question for you. I followed your tut as I needed to re-marry my logic board, done using old psp. I upgraded back to Rebug 4.46 Lite but it's not showing as Lite. should I be concerned.

once enter the recovery mode it said that " connect storage media that contains update date of version 9.99 or later and then selet start and select buttons at the same time

If your Rebug, simply enable QA, take out disk, install lower version rebug. done.

This method only works on CFW 4.46 PS3's. I clearly state this several times. If you're above 3.55 official firmware, then you'll need a hardware flasher to downgrade, provided your PS3 is downgradable.

i'm on REBUG 4.46.1 LITE and in REBUG Toolbox i have Toggle QA Flag enabled, can i install '999' Downgrader immediately or do i need to get the QA Toggle that you have first?

Then you can upgrade to 3.55 official firmware using a USB stick. You don't need to downgrade as you're already below 3.55.

i get an error while trying to install any .pkg file every time on my custom firmware so i cant downgrade to put up a new better one, can you help me? i'm on a 4.46 cfw but not sure which one...install package files is under the network setting, not in the game tab
