This is a live session of Milky Chance and Henning May of AnnenMayKantereit performing "Cocoon" from the 2017 album "Blossom" by Milky Chance.

Vor ein paar Wochen haben wir AnnenMayKantereit bei ihrem Konzert in Kassel besucht. Und zum Warm-up gemeinsam Cocoon gesungen!

A few weeks back we visited our friends AnnenMayKantereit at their show in our home town Kassel – and did Cocoon for the warm-up.

What really wins me over in this version compared to the studio's one is the pure joy they're externalizing. The studio's version is "too perfect", this is more humane. Not just humane, it reaches the core of what Art is about; emotion. At times we as audience tend to search for perfection which often leads us to professionals. And while they may have the technical mastery, they simply can't put a smile on your face, you can't relate. By no means do I imply that these guys are not professional. But it was nice, felt refreshing to experience music in such a straightforward way. Just friends having good time, capturing a moment of beauty while the rest of us are too preoccupied with everyday life to the point we often fail to acknowledge that same beauty.

It's so quiet... What I would give for a really great recording of this. The blend of their voices is inspired.

The sync is so perfect here, you want to cry, almost physical pleasure how all of it joins together. I listened to it so many times and the more I listen to it, the more I like it. Similar perfection I find in AMK song Your door.

I like the fact that everyone was in sync and one didn't try to overpower the others. I think what's missing in this generation is the ability to listen to others around you as that is just as important as your ability to sing. Beautiful trio here.
