The last rumour was about an April Nintendo Direct early this year and that didn’t happen so there may be no Nintendo Direct for August.

For me, I can still picture an announcement not coming until January. Nintendo won’t want to announce a console now and see a drop in current Switch sales at Christmas, so holding off until January to announce the consoles just makes sense.

I feel that the only thing missing for Nintendo now is Pokemon virtual console. There’s clearly a gap in release for Pokemon this November. If Nintendo just released Gen 1 Pokemon on Gameboy VC, it won’t impact future titles because we already have a recent gen 1 remake, and we have already seen gen 1 virtual console on 3DS. I feel like releasing gen 1 virtual console in November, as well as a special edition Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow switch would get Nintendo and Pokemon those sales through the Christmas period they need, so they can start fresh in 2025 with the new console announcement and put full focus on new titles going forward. Plus it may also bring a bit more interest back into the system

I think we’re underestimating the number of phases in which Nintendo is going to roll out information about Switch 2. They said they would roll it out in phases, meaning we have at least two. We could see a hardware reveal with very little information soon. Later on they will almost certainly do a full explanation of features, followed immediately by the opening of preorders. The question is, will there be phases in between? It could be wise of them to stretch this out and build as much hype as possible.

I wouldn’t count out a Mario Party specific Direct ever happening. There looks to be a lot of different modes they could go into detail over, and given how well the Switch Mario Party games have done, it might be considered higher profile in Nintendo’s eyes to warrant a full Direct. Of course, it could also just get an overview trailer like Zelda, Paper Mario, pretty much every big title from Nintendo.

As for the possibility of a September Direct… I mean, I’ll say it again. And again. And again. Anyone who is seriously expecting Switch games to just stop when the next console releases is crazy. Because I cannot understate- ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY THREE *MILLION* USER INSTALL BASE!

We’re definitely gonna be getting games post-Switch 2, like how 3DS kept getting stuff into 2018-19. And we could get a Direct for smaller games for the first half of 2025. We haven’t heard from Kirby in a hot minute, could get Triple Deluxe Deluxe or Robobot EX version, Woolly World Switch, maybe a new Pikmin spin off? Like, random smaller titles and ports and remakes. And, of course, there’s also always third party offerings, Nintendo Directs are rarely ever just Nintendo.

I can’t really imagine getting a big Direct, and I know you said maybe a Mini could happen, but the implication their reveals would need to be by April as if to say Switch will have to be fully done and dusted so Switch 2 can take over is just ridiculous.

Because again, 143 million user install base will still get sales on lower budget cash grab ports. We may not like it, but that’s business.

It going to show off early 2025 switch games maybe 1 more small holiday game. Switch going have games 2-3 years into switch 2 life. Switch sales really aren't that low PS5 only sold 300k more in time period
