If I were a betting man, if we’re getting a Direct this month, even if we were still getting the Direct in September, we are going to be getting at least a Switch 2 abstract vibes trailer this month. Even just something abstract that at least gives a release window and the name of the console would open up the floodgates of at third party titles coming at Gamescom, TGS, Pax East, The Game Awards and the Direct can cover cross-gen. With the contraction of the industry with teams getting laid off and studios getting shuttered, they’ll want to give development and publication partners a reason to hang in there. And one thing that would help with that is being able to talk about and show off stuff coming to Switch 2. If Nintendo continues waiting to even open the floodgates, there’s the possibility of teams currently working on stuff for Switch 2 being shut down before they can even talk about it.

They’re getting pressure from investors (especially after that massive of a revenue and sales drop), development and publishing partners who want to be able to start taking advantage of the convention season, Geoff Keighley and other planners of massive industry events, AND nVidia who is interested in seeing the console come out while the nVidia tech in it is still impressive. Nintendo waits until 2025 to even reveal and aims for a Holiday 2025 or a 2026 release and that would end up pissing off a lot of people.

lets hope they share some information on the next console. i wouldn't be upset if it were just some more indie releases coming to switch though. but if theyre doing it this soon after the last huge direct, its more than likely the latter.

Gamescom will be good for some game announcements and interesting showcases, probably even better for leaks. Then an indie world and a Nintendo direct in September would be good too. I think they could genuinely just announce the console then and there or maybe just a week after.

I don't like the idea of them announcing a console right after TGS though, not saying they would but it would seem like a slight missed opportunity to sync up some announcements.

If the switch 2 launches around the holiday season next year. I doubt the switch 2 will be revealed this month or next month. I bet Nintendo will reveal the switch 2 early next year. Remember Switch force Nintendo is skipping Gamescom this year.
