Industry standard and marine system manuals always recommend crimped lugs because it is a mechanical connection. Gas tight cold weld will always be better than solder. I'm sure some people will try to argue below that solder is better, but they are wrong. Solder is great for PCB connections and that's it.

In the video I claimed it was $399, because that was the MSRP. I just found it on amazon for $329, so we are using that price instead.

Hi, will
Thanks for the professional and honest review. As soon as we saw your video, we immediately went to the factory to investigate the internal structure of our battery. And found that our low temperature batteries are indeed soldered, not crimped.

We instantly launched an emergency step to intercept all low temp protection batteries that were ready to be sent out.

Later learned through your video : Industry standard and marine system manuals always recommend crimped.

After discussion, our company agreed that crimping is more suitable for the battery, and unanimously adopted your suggestions for our products. And will rectify the planning of each part of the interior to make it more perfect.

As for risk, our battery safety is completely guaranteed, and there is no need to worry about the wiring disconnection caused by high temperature. It will automatically disconnect when the internal temperature of the battery exceeds 75 degrees. It is impossible to reach 185 degrees of welding melting point, so there is no potential risk of such wiring falling off.

We are on the iteration of this battery, all our batteries will be crimped instead of soldered connections, they will get better. We will continue to use the best battery cell, and continue to improve the low temperature protection system. We will rectify the connection method and internal structure according to your suggestions at the same time. We hope our upgraded products can bring customers a better experience.

In fact, low temp cut off batteries with crimped are already on the way. It will be available soon, thanks for support !

We will send you an upgraded version of the battery soon.
Your professional reviews and ripped apart will only make our batteries more powerful in the future.

Much appreciated for feedback!
Sincerely,
Vatrer team

Nothing better than watching Will get into it with his Battery "Chainsaw" Tool. Yep, I would let my kids hang out with Will, talk about instilling confidence and getting in there and getting it done.

There is something oddly satisfying and pavlovian that happens with the "THUNK" of a battery landing on the table, the buzz of the oscillating tool, and the crunching of plastic being ripped for all you do Will !!!

I just purchased 4 of these and then came on YT to see your review video and canceled it! Today they have a Lightning Dead of the Day for $181 and regular price is $209. I canceled anyways. I currently have 4 AGM Renogy 100ah batteries and will keep them until they die now. I have only had them for 2 years. Thanks for helping me save money on a battery 🔋 that doesn't have a good build quality.

With my professional knowledge, the melting point of soldering is 185 degrees. Generally, the battery has a high temperature cutting off protection system that will automatically disconnect when it reaches 65 to 75 degrees. So I don't think there is any safety hazard.

I am in need of a 12v lithium battery for my trolling motor and decided to research it first. Am i glad i did, i stumbled upon your video on the Chins and Ampere batteries and took me into a rabbit hole. All great information and guided me towards the safe purchase of one without blowing my budget. I used your affiliate link as my appreciation and still enjoy your videos. So thank you and keep it up!

Another great breakdown, and as always I sincerely appreciate your focus on safety, and showcasing what good/bad build quality look like in these products.

IF it was a bit better priced for what's inside, it might have been a passable battery for a small trolling motor, deer feeder battery, or some other outdoor, not in a home or occupied structure type place.

But as you pointed out, its not at a suitable price point even for those applications.

Much better and sturdier options for sure. And way Safer!

Would love to see Thermal imaging video of high current discharge on soldered connections main leads charge controllers etc. etc. since you brought the subject up. 👍🏻

This looks like the best battery you have in your channel...
Because I can get in Europe for the similar price...
People will use this battery probably for solar power systems... In that case soldered connections are not a problem...
From 40-60A will not be a problem at all...
I tried on 63A soldered connections fo 10h and they never get hot... But if you use bad wires it could get hot... Nothing you can handle with your hands... Just for people who want to try...
I believe that this is great battery and I don't see the reason why people shouldn't buy it...
I'll like to see test off this battery if is not a problem?
Thanks.

I want to see you stress it! Get some amps over those soldered points and see what temperature you reach, and what the melting point of that solder is! I bet it'll be really toasty and close if you just slap some inverters on it! :)

I think you should check out Vestwoods LiFePo4 batteries . Recently I purchased 4 of their 200ah brutes (75 lbs. each) from their Amazon listing. Their 100ah & 200ah have low temp. protection. The 200ah are bargain priced currently at $599 ea. They are in stock in Cal. for quick shipping. They build commercial industrial batteries and the 200ah use 4 huge BYD cells. Don't know exactly what they look like inside and am not about to cut one open as they are needed on a daily basis. Check them out.

So hook that battery up to a high load (the 100amps you mentioned) and see what happens to those soldered connections! Oh and film it, of course. :)

Looks like Vatrer released a video where they fixed the solder issue. Out 3 months ago, but just now saw it. The punks even copied your review almost verbatim. It was as if i was watching this video again at one point. 😂😂 Not only do they take your advice, but they also copy your vids. They will never copy your swag my brother. Had to come back to comment. Thanks for all your vids and for getting the industry to up it's game. Oh, btw, 100ah now down to $309.

Thank you Will. I wanted to know if the low-temp protection was going to work on my Vatrer. Got it 4 weeks ago for $309.99 and after applying my $75 gift card (76th birthday), the price seemed right. The Vatrer 12v 100ah WITHOUT low-temp is now $309.99 which is in the lowest cost range on Amazon for 12v 100ah batteries. I don't mind the lug soldering, since I don't plan to pull anything more than 20A.

Why do you think solder will melt? If it gets to 360f typical solder melt temp, there is more to worry about than a wire de-soldering.

I’ve actually used silver soldier to repair a dryer heating element, temporarily, until the part arrived, but then decided to wait until the soldier failed before actually replacing it, which never happened! Not at all saying you should soldier rather than crimp, but thought I’d share anyway.
