These are my top 5 recommendations for bank checking accounts for 2021:

#5: Capital One 360

Their savings account currently offers you 0.4% interest which is pretty competitive especially compared to some other national banks like Chase or Bank of America and they're going to charge no fees and give you free access to their network of 40,000 ATMs. Now the biggest benefit when it comes to Capital One and really the reason it made it onto this list is that it's going to offer you that in-person option if you do prefer to physically go into a bank to make a deposit or just get a question answered quickly. Their checking account currently offers 1% cash back which is absolutely insane for a free checking account and it has no fees plus gives you access to their network of 60,000 free-to-use ATMs. They also have savings account options that will currently pay you 0.5% interest plus different money market accounts, certificates of deposit, and even retirement account options which I haven't seen from a lot of their competitors. And as I mentioned, they also have a few different credit card options as well.

Chime currently offers 0.5% interest with an incredibly well designed mobile app that honestly sets them apart from the competition. This account is going to charge no fees as usual but they also offer some awesome features such as the ability to get paid early, their round-up and automatic savings features, and their new credit builder card that allows you to build credit by simply using this card for your regular everyday purchases.
