My German heritage son-in-law is very goal oriented and focused. He is also pay very strict attention to details. My daughter made a good choice.

My thoughts on Germany turn to studying the language with so many cases and endings! Also, the marvelous music, cinema history, and general respect for the arts! 💖

I think of mountains, castles, children's stories, dog breeds, rock bands, potato pancakes, sauerkraut, Albert Einstein, German engineering, universities and childcare.

I miss Bavaria! I spent some time there back in the 90's.

Oh yeah, I'm brazilian but I got to like sports through german football, watching Bundesliga matches with my father when I was a kid. I still watch Bundesliga matches every week (even have a small collection of FC Bayern shirts). I also know some sports personalities from other sports, like Dirk Nowitzki, Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel, Nico Rosberg, Alexander Zverev... I listen to some german music, like Rammstein, Oomph!, Revolverheld...
I was planing to spend my vacation in München back in 2020, but covid hit and you know the rest. Still hope to go to the Oktoberfest one day and make a tour in the Allianz Arena. Yes, I do appreciate some german beer, of course.
For some reason, some japanese metal bands like to use german titles and verses in their songs. Yousei Teikoku (the name comes from Das Feenreich) and Unlucky Morpheus are some solid examples.

Beer and Bratwurst ofcourse, but don't forget about Rammstein, Electric Callboy and Oktoberfest! Also there's some of Europe's largest rock and metal festivals that many of us Dutchies visit as well.

In the Industrial revolution, Germany realized it couldn't compete against Britain when it came to manufacturing mass production machinery (Britain had too big a head start), so Germany effectively chose to concentrate on chemical engineering (BASF), optical engineering (Zeiss, Lecia etc.) and precision engineering.

I love Neue Deutsche Welle music, and there was a band a couple of years ago that I really liked a lot called Wir Sind Helden. I bought their album "Von Hier An Blind", it's still one of my favourites.
I like Leuchturm, Major Tom (Völlig losgelösst) and (this one is really old and I'm afraid a bit obscure, but it's so much fun) Codo from the band DÖF. I think they were a German/Austrian band, back in the early 80s.

I wonder if any German music is known in Japan such as Kraftwerk, Nena, De/Vision, Rosenstolz, Ich + Ich…. ( and tons more!)

There is so much more than sausage, beer and industry.
Did you know, we have much more Wine-growing regions then hop cones?
The hills in the south and the flatlands in the north.
Christmas market, for me more beautiful then Oktoberfest.

Many things I love are from Germany, but overall I think the german language is beautiful.
It's cute and funny how some people can get to know other countries... because of Hetalia of all things!

Johann Sebastian Bach, Martin Luther, Gutenberg, Werner von Braun, Fritz Haber, David Hilbert (best epitaph ever!), Von Clausewitz, Goethe, Hermann Ebbinghaus, Klimt, Fritz Lang, Otto Dix, and a few physicists too.

Japan always seems to conveniently forget that it has a dark history together with Germany. That they only know the axis powers and or WW2 history from "Hetalia" is pretty sad. It's quite a strong contrast to us in Germany, because we teach these topics to our pupils with facts and honesty and without sugar-coating history.

My former employer and friend was strafed multiple times by Me-262s, fought from Thanksgiving to the end of the war, and was one of the few who crossed the bridge at Remagen. He saved the life of an injured German woman in the latter days of the war.

Apart from military history from Teutoburg 9 to Berlin 1945, Germany is famous for Flecktarn, KSK, GSG-9, Sig and Heckler & Koch. On TV detective-series like Derrick, Ein Fall Für Zwei, and Der Alte. Classics! From science Fraunhofer and Max Planck -institutes rock. And the stoneware pottery is cool. Helloween, Scorpions and Rammstein, of course. Neumann, Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic, Behringer and RME from audio and Steinberg (owned by Yamaha) from software side.
Did they also make cars or something? ;)

ドイツ行った時ノイシバンシュタイン城は綺麗だった✨
ドイツ人がビールは水って言ってたのは驚いた
水よりビールが安いと言う意味合いだったと思う😅
