Star Wars is an American epic space opera multimedia franchise created by George Lucas, which began with the eponymous 1977 film and quickly became a worldwide pop culture phenomenon.

The Star Wars franchise depicts the adventures of characters "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away", in which humans and many species of aliens (often humanoid) co-exist with robots (typically referred to in the films as 'droids'), who may assist them in their daily routines; space travel between planets is common due to lightspeed hyperspace technology. The planets range from wealthy, planet-wide cities to deserts scarcely populated by primitive tribes. Virtually any Earth biome, along with many fictional ones, has its counterpart as a Star Wars planet which, in most cases, teem with sentient and non-sentient alien life. The franchise also makes use of other astronomical objects such as asteroid fields and nebulae. Spacecraft range from small starfighters, to huge capital ships such as the Star Destroyers, to space stations such as the moon-sized Death Stars. Telecommunication includes two-way audio and audiovisual screens, holographic projections, and HoloNet (internet counterpart).

The universe of Star Wars is generally similar to ours but its laws of physics are less strict allowing for more imaginative stories. One result of that is a mystical power known as the Force which is described in the original film as "an energy field created by all living things ... [that] binds the galaxy together". The field is depicted as a kind of pantheistic god. Through training and meditation, those whom "the Force is strong with" exhibit various superpowers (such as telekinesis, precognition, telepathy, and manipulation of physical energy). It is believed nothing is impossible for the Force. The mentioned powers are wielded by two major knightly orders at conflict with each other: the Jedi, peacekeepers of the Galactic Republic who act on the light side of the Force through non-attachment and arbitration, and the Sith, who use the dark side by manipulating fear and aggression. While Jedi Knights can be numerous, the Dark Lords of the Sith (or 'Darths') are intended to be limited to two: a master and their apprentice.

Force-wielders are very limited in numbers in comparison to the population. The Jedi and Sith prefer the use of a weapon called a lightsaber, a blade of plasma that can cut through virtually any surface and deflect energy bolts. The rest of the population, as well as renegades and soldiers, use plasma-powered blaster firearms. As a result of galaxy-scaled politics (involving republics, empires, kingdoms, alliances, etc.), all this weaponry is made use of in various military conflicts during which most Star Wars material takes place. In the outer reaches of the galaxy, crime syndicates such as the Hutt cartel are dominant. Bounty hunters are often employed by both gangsters and governments. Illicit activities include smuggling.

Kanan has had just a huge impact on me and my life and I know he has for countless others. My son is going to be named Kanan. It’s sad to see Freddie go, but we will always have Kanan. How big of an impact has Kanan had on you?

Freddie gets something that so many Star Wars actors and fans don't get.... Its ok for a character to die. Its ok for a characters arc to end

I don’t understand why people disagree with him. He’s not the only person to do this is Star Wars

actually, that makes sense to me. Karan had a good run and a good end. We don’t need more from him.

Will I miss Kanan? Absolutely. But I actually really like what Freddie is doing. He recognizes that the character’s arc is complete and bringing him back cheapens his sacrifice and his arc. It’s ok to let good things come to an end. Better that then to let it live on and be ruined.

Kanaan was such a great Jedi. His death was so sad and noble. I literally said, "No not Kanaan."

I mean showing a young kanan doesnt dilute what old kanan did. Ep9 maybe but its just his voice not a force ghost since we know you have to learn that i think its fine. Really just sad hearing him say "im too old for that stuff" tbh.

Kanan may well be my favourite Star Wars character, and a lot of that is due to Freddie's amazing performance

To be fair I didn't know Freddie Prince Jr played kanan in rebels. He is awesome in rebels for the voice but didn't know but I loved watching his dad with my dad when I was a kid watching his stand up on VHS it's awesome that he, no offense, is like his dad with making career in the business and I think he's doing great. Dig it 👍🔥💣💥

I think it'd be good to see him in live action, as a flashback. I understand why he wouldn't want to. But I think it'd be cool

I thought it was a good idea to put Kanan in the beginning of the bad batch, its cute to see him as a little kid. But they should of casted a younger actor his voice is WAYY to deel for a like 13 year old

as much as i love freddie i think we need to accept different actors in the roles. put someone like zac efron or logan lerman in a flashback scene. the inquisitor was recast in kenobi and he did a great job (despite the inaccurate makeup)

episode nines quality aside isn't a film like that the perfect moment to have his voice or ghost feature in?

I’d like to see him play a new Jedi, with Sarah Michelle Gellar as his wife, raising some lil padawans with a giant brown and black doggo
