Cupping Therapy - Pain Relief or Nonsense⁉️ #shorts

Показать описание
Does Cupping Therapy help?
.
When done safely by a trained professional, cupping therapy can be part of a multi-disciplinary approach to pain relief. There's no convincing evidence that excessive bruising is necessary for short-term symptom relief - BE SAFE!
.
Myofascial decompression (MFD) or #cupping and self-myofascial release (SMR) are common techniques utilized to treat soft tissue #injuries and increase flexibility. MFD is a negative pressure soft tissue treatment technique using suction to manipulate the skin and underlying soft tissues. One method of SMR is a foam roller, where a patient rolls his/her bodyweight over a dense foam cylinder in a self-massaging fashion to mobilize soft tissues for the body part treated. The findings suggest that both treatments are beneficial in increasing hamstring length. Patients though felt an enhanced treatment effect using MFD over SMR for perceived benefits to hamstring flexibility. [ACUTE OUTCOMES OF MYOFASCIAL DECOMPRESSION (CUPPING THERAPY) compared TO SELF-MYOFASCIAL RELEASE ON HAMSTRING PATHOLOGY AFTER A SINGLE TREATMENT, PMID: 33354391]
.
Prevailing theories on cupping therapy mechanism of action that are related to Chinese #TraditionalMedicine, Unani Medicine or other traditional healing practices need to be addressed in a new innovative study. Theories investigated to help explain the benefits of cupping include: Pain-Gate Theory (pain reduction, changes in biomechanical properties of the skin and precipitate blood circulation), Diffuse Noxious Inhibitory Controls (DNICs), Reflex Zone Theory, and Nitric Oxide Theory (Muscle relaxation, specific changes in local tissue structures and increase blood circulation). The beneficial effects of cupping therapy need to be substantiated by large randomized clinical trials, systematic reviews and meta-analyses in future. Basic scientific innovative research is also needed to verify the discussed theories about cupping along with inventing new theories. [PMID: 30963043]
