Completely agree RC. We have so many different option to race and anyone can find something they will enjoy driving. But I'll also add, I think we're also experiencing a boom in irl racing too. WEC, IMSA, F1, and more are seeing bigger and bigger crowds

For people living in first world countries yes, but people outside of this still struggles a lot when purchasing equipment and content.

DD has made the biggest impact in just teh last few years!

I concur until the subscription model totally takes over in the way the sims make their revenue. This is even more worrisome due to the clarification many companies are making that our purchases of full games only are of the license. What prevents in the future a dlc or a car you bought disappearing from a game because the owners decided to cancel the license, the same already happens with music in not so old video games.

I play on a 16 inch laptop with 1650, With mid graphics (Assetto Corsa, F1 23) both with Keyboard and Mouse, And that's probably enough to make me happy, and enjoy and truly get to immerse into racing, im glad!

VR, specifically GT7 and PSVR2, catapulted me into never before dreamt heights in simracing. I finally figured out how to be plugged into the matrix

For me, I've spent the last 3-4 years playing 90% of my time in AC with pre-70s content.

And I never, ever expected in my wildest dreams to be able to have such incredible racing on so many period tracks with incredible car lists as I currently do.

I only have decent quality cars installed (~150) and tracks that look good and have decent AI (~30) but those combinations are the ones of my dreams. Kunos, Ilja, Peter Boese and a hundred other modders have created the most amazing, immersive spectacles I've ever experienced on a screen.

There's being able to relive history and then there's being able to improve history - niche oddballs and cars that never realised their potential, able to compete against their peers at last, on the real tracks and others they maybe didn't race on in period.

1967 sportscars, with Ford Mk2s, Ferrari P4s, GT40s, T70s, Jaguar XJ13s, Porsche 906s, Chevron B8s and oddballs like the Piper

1964 GTs with the holy trinity of Shelby Cobras, E-Types, 250GTOs but supported by GT350Rs, Porsche 904s, 911s, Bizzarrinis, Lotus Elans and Corvettes

Porsche 917s vs Ferrari 512s

Daytona Coupés v 250LMs v Maserati 151s v Corvette Grand Sports

BMW CSLs v Ferrari Daytonas v Ford Capris v DeTomaso Panteras

Minis v Abarths

(and because I'm lucky enough to be in some mod teams, a few extras that aren't released yet).

I suspect this might be the last great modding platform.

I'm also really excited by AMS2 and I've enjoyed the Dirt Rally series until its latest version, Art of Rally too - what a game.

I agree, looks at all of our hardware, options, software, titles with more in depth options. Pc's, consoles and more. Just at the peak of what sim racing is at the moment.

I also agree it seems gt3 is the most popular racing at the moment.

Couldn't agree more! Hopefully things keep going in the direction they have been for the last few years.
Great video

In my opinion the said golden age starts with NASCAR Racing 2, or even NASCAR Racing 1. I was amazed how good racing game that is from 1996. Everything after is improving and filling gaps, which I appreciate.

Your opinion videos are so good, RC. The way you convey your message, without saltiness or toxicity, is refreshing. You've obviously thought this through before you put it out there. Thanks mate!

Another thing that makes it the golden age of sim racing is the community. That is, sim racers and content creators like @randomcallsign. If it wasn't for them, I would still have a wheel attached to my desk while sitting on a chair with castors.

Also agree. Sim racing has never been so accessible and comprehensive. It kind of confused me when some others have said that the sim racing golden age was over a decade ago.

Completely agree here! Trying to decide which sim I should play because they are all great is a fantastic problem to have. I'd also add part of this golden era for me currently is older games getting rebooted and re-polished to bring them up to more modern standards. For example I've been playing so much GT4 Spec ii lately and it's some of the most fun I've had gaming in a very long time! Peace & Love RC!

Sim racing is definitely in it's golden age for online racing and equipment
I hope we could see some really cool single player options down the line 😊

I guess simracing also is gaining in popularity because it is very hard to make it political compared to other games.
